Crying

Something happened at home today, and it's made me really upset and I haven't stopped crying... On and off since 5pm... Aside from higher levels of cortisol... Can this affect baby?

No, not for something like this. Studies show that women who've been through war or something terrible may had had sufficient levels of stress to cause some issues, but ordinary day to day or short term stress no.

I was very hormonal and my DD came out as chilled as anything!

Be kind to yourself - and don't worry.

Also, hope you're ok at home OP.

Thank you, I've calmed a bit now. Just was worried as when I was sobbing I had a few aches and niggles... Even think I felt baby move (15 weeks and not felt b yet) but thank you hopefully no real damage. Xx

Honestly there won't be. You're just hyper sensitive to it because you're worrying about the baby, that's all. Worry about yourself and make sure you are eating and sleeping and resting properly. Bubs will be just fine in there!

Thank you xx

Unless it’s something incredibly traumatic (like war, kidnap and torture, or watching Dumbo 😩 ) then your baby will be absolutely fine

Thank you. Worry is still here... Have had a dull continuous ache on my stomach... Upper and middle .... Feels like bad hunger pangs mixed with crankiness... Just hope all is OK. Can't shake the sadness from yesterday but trying to remain calm.

It sounds much more like stress than anything else. But if you're worrying, why not call your midwife/healthcare team. They will be able to talk to you.

You're also growing a lot at the moment - stretching and ligament pains are v common.

Have you been able to sort out the issue at home? That should take priority if possible as it's obviously going to affect you. Also in case you didn't know, it is possible to get pre natal depression - my friend had this and had to have a couple of sessions with a therapist. She felt a million times better after that. So you could talk to your health team about that too.
