Help! FTM. Confused about pram choices! Silvercross Wave/iCandy Orange/Uppababy Vista 2017

Hi all!

I'm currently 23 weeks, and looking to order my pram very soon as I have seen a few good deals. But every time I go and have a look at the prams, I'm unsure and change my mind. We have narrowed it down to the following three:

Silver Cross Wave
UppaBaby Vista 2017
iCandy Orange

I don't use public transport much, looking to use it for walking to shops nearby, or taking in the car and going out and about with. Also, we would like another baby soon within 2 years after so it would be handy that the pram can change into a tandem.

If anyone has any reviews or advice about the above three would be great. I feel so lost!! TIA Smile

We narrowed it down to the same three (except the peach not the orange). They are all so similar it came down to weight for us. We went to a store that had all three and to have a go at taking them apart and lifting them once folded. The wave was really heavy, the peach was a bit lighter, the vista I could lift with one hand so we went for the vista, plus I love the huge shopping basket! Maybe try and go to a store which has all three that you can compare what is important to you while they are actually next to each other.

I'm just a few days ahead of you but in similar situation (plan #2 soon after) and we went for the iCandy Orange.

The decision was mostly swayed by the many different configurations possible - and the huge shopping basket. I liked the fact that the carrycot is appropriate for overnight sleeping up to 6 months old - saves on buying a travel cot and possibly even a moses basket (I'm considering using it for that, but we'll see how the baby likes it!). Plus it's the tallest handle on the market and that was an important (although insignificant) feature for my husband.

I'd too recommend going to the shop and trying out all three and see how they seem to you.

I’ve had the Icandy Peach 2 for 5 years, and used it as a double when my eldest was just 2 and we had a second. It was brilliant, especially all the different configurations. It was v handy to be able to leave a sleeping baby in the car seat and put it on the buggy, when going to the shops.

My only criticisms are that the hood doesn’t come low enough so another sun shade was needed and it can be heavy when trying to lift 2 children in it, up a curb.

I will shortly be using it again as a single for my third and it’s lasted really well. I sold on the tandem attachments for a good price too.

Thank you for all your replies.

I have been and seen them all. But they all have good and bad points. I keep changing my mind.
The wave is really nice but very heavy.
The iCandy orange, I'm not too keen on the look but is quite easy to steer.
I'm thinking the UppaBaby might be in the lead because it is slightly lighter and is similar to the Wave. But I haven't really heard about the brand "UppaBaby". Is it a good, reliable brand?

I have the vista but the older version and about to use it again for Baby no 2.
I have had no problems with it whatsoever and it’s srill going strong 3 years later.
Again the carrycot can be used overnight and I did this with my first despite having a Moses basket.
I also had a chicco next to me crib but she was 4 pounds when she came home from hospital and was happier sleeping in a smaller cot so it saved me carrying the Moses basket up and down the stairs.
It also has a nice big basket and a supermarket cashier once asked if I had a tardis down there as I managed to get so much in!
The best thing about it though for me was the pull out sun hood. I hate seeing Muslins clipped to peak hoods as they can overheat the Baby. The pull out hood on the vista was a godsend - even in the early days with an October baby as the sun could be so low.

Hi @duckii which pram did you finally decide on, I have narrowed it down to the Wave and Uppababy Vista too. If they weighed the same it would be the Wave but the weight has me wavering, would love to know what you decided!

Addy2 · 15/04/2018 16:13

I got the wave in the end, it was between that and the iCandy peach. There's not much between them really. Overall, I just preferred the look of the wave. Also like the ventilation panels and low sun shade as we're having a summer baby. The weight didn't bother me as I won't be needing to take it up and down stairs, it's mainly for trips to our local park etc. I wouldn't have had it if I lived in a flat/up a flight of stairs or needed to rely on public transport. I'm sure you'll be fine with any of them, don't worry too much about it. :-)

*orange, sorry, not peach!

@SPARKS17 we thought about this for far too long. The wave was just too heavy. The new Uppababy 2018 is out so we are ordering that next week! It says 2-3 weeks delivery so hopefully just in time for the baby's arrival.
Ps. We loved the New Bugaboo Fox. However, it cannot be tandem. Was tempted but also more expensive too. Hope you figure out what one you want xx

I’m in the states and the uppababy is everywhere - hugely popular. We liked ours a lot with DS and are actually getting another one this time, but both second hand bc there’s such a huge second hand market for them where we live and they’re well built . The only downside is that they’re a bit bulky when folded (if you have a small car like do). We found that as soon as baby was big enough for umbrella model that was much more useful. So really you use the “big” one for a year or less if you’re like us.

duckii · 16/04/2018 22:58

What's the umbrella model? @Fakingit36

Maybe that’s an American term... I just mean the light folding buggy kind. We have an uppa baby one of those too and it’s great, so much easier to fold and deal with when driving, on public transit etc. I just think the pram thing may be shorter lived than you think - that’s what we found.

PoodleDoodleCaboodle · 18/04/2018 16:20

We went to a baby show and ordered the wave because I loved how it looked and everything you'd ever need was included in the bundle. However, I had doubts about its weight, how the traditional and cute look would fare in London where we live (shallow but important to me!!!) and if there was a better option out there. We spent ages in JL yesterday playing about with the different travel systems on offer and concluded:

-The wave wouldn't suit us and our lifestyle;
-The uppababy looked like a dolls pram (in bassinet mode), especially with my very tall husband;
The iCandy Peach wasn't the prettiest thing out there but it's built like a tank and multifunctional.

So, the iCandy it is for us!!!

I am torn between I candy orange and uppa Baby vista too I have an almost 17 month old who will be 18 months when her sister arrives - was all set for a side by side city mini jogger then realised wouldn’t fit through our door! Now narrowed it down the best two stadium seat style prams. Let me know what you all choose and any reviews of uppa Baby vista 2018. Price seems similar on both I think... which handles best and has best wheels important too!
