At a friends house and they are serving partridge. I'm only 6 weeks so haven't told them. Some advice seems to be 'limit game' which is fine as I very very rarely eat it, others suggest avoid it. What do you think?

It's fine

Figrollsnotfatrolls · 04/01/2018 19:36

Just eat it!! Your dc hasn't even got an umbilical cord yet!!

It's ok as long as it's thoroughly cooked and not pink at all. Pink game meat carries a risk of toxoplasmosis.

thingymaboob · 04/01/2018 19:41

That's why they tell you to avoid game - toxoplasmosis risk. If the meat has been throughly cooked and reached an internal temp of around 72 degrees C, then the toxoplasmosis tissue cysts are killed.
Toxoplasmosis tissue cysts can also be killed at lower temperatures if cooked for longer.

Excellent, thought I was being too cavalier

Its fine but avoid lead shot.

StylishMummy · 04/01/2018 20:23

If shot with lead then avoid, otherwise you're fine - enjoy!

I misread partridge as porridge Blush

AyeAyeFishyPie · 06/01/2018 20:37

I didn’t see the other two lead comments. It was by Waitrose and I went in today and it said it is shot with lead and said that pregnant women should only eat one portion a week (I won’t have any more - I don’t often eat game).

I hope it will be OK :-(

I thought it said porridge!

AyeAyeFishyPie · 06/01/2018 21:30

I hate this - I’m now so worried! I only hate half a breast - the other piece they gave me was pink so I avoided it.

Like a pp said, there's not even an umbilical cord yet!

Most farming/ shooting/ rural country families eat quite a bit of shot game.

Relax OP.

Ive eaten quite a bit of pheasant this season. Your risk of toxoplasmosis is no different to eating undercooked meat from supermarket
