Why do people think you'll be happy to be told "God you're huge"??? It's not a compliment and it's quite hurtful. I feel bad enough about my body having blown up like a baloon and resembling a weeble and I don't need reminding thank you. I'm 31wks and have put on 2st2lb which I didn't think was too bad. I am short though so there is not so much room for it. And to top it all my feet, ankles and hands have suddenly decided to double in size. Getting paranoid now that I'm going to have a 2 stone baby... Next person that says it could well loose an eye. And while I'm at it the people who think it tickles when they grab your sides from behind to make you jump. IT DOESN'T TICKLE IT HURTS. And if you do it when I need a wee I may just pee all over your floor.

Feel better now I have that off my chest...

I put on 4 stone and my feet swelled so bad I could only wear flip flops to my midwife appts!! Evil witch boss made a comment when I'd gained two stone that 'oh your baby won't be two stone you know'....could have happily thrown my (HOT!) chocolate over her!!!

Lwatkins · 24/04/2007 23:30

It's another one of those things that goes with being pregnant though isn't it? As well as becoming public property and having complete strangers touching you! If I spent my days randomly touching peoples tummys the man in the van would be along, but it's OK if your pregnant to get felt up be every greasy tom, dick and harry within a 12 mile radious!

Can you tell I'm 36 weeks pregnant and utterly fed up with pregnancy and peoples comments and wandering hands?

Next time someone makes a 'aren't you big' comment just sit on them and prove their point correct! Then go and eat a chocolate muffin whilst resting your swollen ankles.

I can sympathise completely - I spent the whole of yesterday grumpy about this exact thing. I'm short and fairly petite on the top half, so my bump is 'all out front' - I completely agree that I am enormous, but can't see what I can do about it, so why do friends and near strangers need to inform me of this constantly?! 2 girls at work yesterday even had an entertaining debate about whether the baby was just really big, or whether it's down to water retention - fantastic! AND I have 10 weeks to go still...

Clydesdaleclopper · 25/04/2007 16:27

I'm only 19 weeks but I've got a pretty big bump which everyone seems to feel the need to comment on. The worst though was the man delivering my takeaway curry who asked if I was overdue and trying to bring on the birth!

megandsoph · 25/04/2007 16:32

Am there with you Clair get told everyday from the same people "dought you will go full term, your huggge" Although went into a different shop yesterday to be told "gosh your bump is small . As for swelling feet I have one foot and ankle much larger than the other at the moment which means no skirts for me

AngelH · 25/04/2007 16:43

I'm 25 weeks, feeling really uncomfortable and if I had my own way I would come to work in my pyjamas every day. I'm constantly being told I'm huge and I'm fed up of comments like 'Oh thats going to be a big one'. I didn't realise pregnancy was all about wash board stomachs and size 0 jeans, Some people don't realise how insensitive their comments sound!

PurpleLostPrincess · 25/04/2007 22:00

I'm normally quite big anyway and I'm now nearly 19 weeks but I look like I'm about 7 or 8 months! My Mum keeps telling me I look much bigger than I should. Also, baby seems to have pushed my midrift up so it looks like my bump starts under my boobs!!!

I find it quite entertaining when people mention it at work and point to my middle belly to say to them "oh, that's not baby, that's flab - here's the baby!". One lady was quite taken aback yesterday morning which I loved

All jokes aside, I'm loving having an excuse to not hold my belly in but I am getting a bit sick of people caressing my flab! I don't think I'll mind so much when it is actually baby bump...

tribpot · 25/04/2007 22:06

I never allowed anyone to touch my bump. It is the thin end of the wedge. But I will never forget the expression on my best friend(at the time)'s face when she saw me at 34weeks, it was like "on my GOD, how could you have let yourself go so badly?". Erm, cos I am pregnant, you daft mare?

Being told you're huge is just goddamn offensive. Ds was nearly 9lb but more significantly I had LOADS of amniotic fluid, so if it came up again would be tempted to say "oh yes, it's mostly amniotic fluid doncha know" just to see people wince at the suggestion.

As for tickling, would not be content simply to pee on their foot, violence would be involved too.

Catz · 26/04/2007 10:34

Yes, I get the same thing as megandsoph. Loads of my work friends haven't have kids and they keep saying things like 'you're huge, it must only be a couple weeks now' and look shocked when I tell them I've got 2 1/2 months to go and will prob put on about a pound a week tell then... One of them 'reassured' me by saying 'at least you know you'll be back to your normal weight then as it'll all come off in one go when you give birth'?!?!?! She's over 30 with a phD in biology!! Then my midwife tells me I'm looking a bit small for dates and other friends (with kids) tell me I'm looking 'neat' with concerned looks on their faces - ARGH

maxbear · 26/04/2007 11:07

People started telling me that I looked big from about 20 weeks and every week when I went to work my manager told me how massive I was...until the week I left when suddenly she said you are not that big yet are you?!

everexpandingtum · 28/04/2007 00:39

LOL at this thread! i am 30 weeks and the size of a house! People keep commenting on how big i am - some girls i hardly know at work were debating whether or not i was having twins (thanks!) and friends and family keep saying in a pitying/slightly concerned way " well yes, it is big but don't waorry, it is ever so neat" !!!

And as for my boobs that sit on top of my HUGE bump, will they EVER stop growing? Is my poor old body ever going to recover ?!?!?

Furrymummy · 28/04/2007 06:08

I'm about 6 weeks and coz I have a fat tummy people say oh you are showing already! No that's just flab.
Why can't people just stick to "Don't you look well!" and "Wow you are really glowing!"
