Does anyone have any recommendations for a pregnancy pillow? I'm only 16 weeks but I see there are some in the sale in Mothercare, and I'm starting to get some discomfort around my hips/lower abdomen/pelvis when I wriggle about in bed (I'm a massive pain to share a bed with, very wriggly...) so was thinking about trying one out. Although I have no idea where to start with that.

I've been using a DreamGenii for the last couple of months and it's been amazing. I'm normally a back sleeper so it's useful at keeping me on my left hand side, and it's definitely helped with hip pain. I had been wondering if it was worth it but then spent 4 nights without it over Christmas and could barely walk in the mornings!

Other benefit is that it's a one-sided pillow so doesn't take up half the bed unlike some other pillows on the market - much appreciated by DH...!

PS I'm 27+4 now, having been using it since I was around 18 weeks though.

The long one with beans in it is really great.

I got the DreamGenii one in mothercare yesteray on sale and I had the first good nights sleep in ages x

I got the theraline long bean one for my first pregnancy and it was wonderful despite being quite large. It’s never been put away and my son is now two! Once I’d given birth I used it for nursing him, then for propping him up before he could sit alone and now I use it in bed to read with. I’m happy to be pregnant again to use it legitimately!

I just have a giant u shaped pillow. It works really well for me because I can wedge myself on my side but it also lifts me up a little at my shoulders which helps to stop the shoulder pain I was feeling before I got it. I normally sleep on my side but when I started to get a bump I was rolling forward with the weight of it and ending up with my shoulder curled under me which got very painful after a while! I’ve not struggled with hip pain since I’ve had it until the last few days really. I am now 36 weeks so it’s probably the fact that I’m approaching the end rather than the lack of support if you see what I mean!!

I have the DreamGenii as it had such fab reviews but I didn't rate it at all when I first used it. It felt too flimsy and it felt like my body
was actually starting to ache more when using it.

Tbf though I was using it at 16 weeks and a lot of people told me as I didn't have a bump that it wouldn't help me anyway at that point so I put it back in the cupboard.

I am now 25 weeks and going to actually get it out again tonight and see how I get on with it now. I will let you know tomorrow how it goes. Fingers crossed.

I just have a v shaped pillow from ikea - can't remember the price exactly put pretty sure it was under £10. It's done me pretty well up till now (I'm almost 36 weeks) but I haven't had any major hip pain issues etc anyway (touch wood!).

Thanks. I'd wait longer but just thought if anything that people really rate is in the sale now it makes sense to buy now to save some money for later but if not then I will leave it awhile longer. Will look up the ones people have suggested Smile.

I've used a pregnancy pillow from the start because I have problems with my hips and needed something to keep me in line while I slept. I got one called the Chicco Boppy Total Body Pillow and it's been a lifesaver. It's easy to find on Amazon. It separates into 3 sections (head, legs and back support) so you can work out what makes you most comfortable. And I like the fact that it's long enough to support my ankles, but isn't so wide that it kicks my partner out of bed :)

If you are starting to get pain in your hips and pelvis I'd get yourself referred for physio straight away. In my previous health authority I waited weeks for an appointment, by which time it had got much worse.

The dreamgenii was fantastic. Small enough that DH still had room in the bed, removable cover to wash. Friends had the bean. Ah type one and it exploded in the bed!

thingymaboob · 04/01/2018 18:16

I have the theraline and I think it's amazing. Much better than the dream genie, in my opinion.

Ive got the summer infant body pillow from jojomamanbebe. It's absolutely brilliant for sleeping on now, and it zips up to make a breast feeding support and/or a nest for the baby. I think it was about £40.
