34+4. Appointment with midwife yesterday and she thinks he’s breech. Have to go back to her next week and if she’s still not happy I need a scan to check then go from there.

Am I being overly worried? He’s still got 5 weeks to cook!

I know plenty of people whose babies did turn.

But even if he doesn't, and you end up with a c section, a planned c section isn't the end of the world. I was having lunch in the pub 4 days after mine! So try not to worry too much either way 🤞🏻

Anna2006 · 04/01/2018 11:10

Mine was breech at 28 weeks and 31 week appointment. 34 week appointment they believe was maybe head down but can be hard to tell. And just been today an she said 100% baby is head down now.

My friend also was told breech every appointment. Went for her scan at 37 weeks and baby was head down and engaged so they just had the bum mistaken for head etc.

Do what you can to try encourage them toturn but it’s not 100% unless they confirm
on a scan so try not panic yet 😊😊 they can still turn around until delivery date you would be suprised!

I had am ECV at 36 weeks, slightly uncomfortable but baby turned successfully and stayed head down for a natural delivery at 41 weeks. Listen to the advice of the professional and consider all options. Good luck Smile

Dd1 was breech right up until a couple of days before she was born. I spent a lot of time circling my hips with my bum in the air (sort of doggy style Blush) watching TV. Also got recommended by the midwife to boing about on a yoga ball for a while every evening. Must have worked!

BigBaboonBum · 04/01/2018 11:36

Both of mine turned late. From breech to transverse, hung around for awhile and then went to heads down

InfiniteCurve · 04/01/2018 11:43

DC1 was breech the entire pregnancy and because of my anatomy the medical stuff were sure she wouldn't turn - I was told I'd need a planned Caesarian from very early on.She did turn at the last minute (I think I had a date for the Caesarian booked and went for the last check before that to find she'd turned ?) and all the staff are "hooray, you can have a natural birth after all!"
While I'm thinking...aaargh,you told me I couldn't! I know nothing about natural birth! ConfusedGrin

Flicketyflack · 04/01/2018 11:46

My son was an undetected breech & was born vaginally! All ok no need to turn Confused

heateallthebuns · 04/01/2018 11:48

Mine was supposed to be right way up and ended up having a breech delivery! They said my contractions must have been so strong they flipped him over Hmm

greenllicic · 04/01/2018 11:48

Hi mine turned after that time. Crawled round a lot commando style with my bum in the air. Midwife told me to do this. Don't know if this was the reason baby turned though . Good luck x

JeremiahBackflip · 04/01/2018 11:52

My son flipped from oblique transverse to breech. A lot. Then head down at 39 weeks. Then googling breech at 39+5. I was in hospital for a c section and he turned head down the night before.

The consultant told me that he didn't believe in the techniques commonly suggested (mostly involving hanging upside down off the sofa or bum up while on your knees). I had tried those to no avail before he said that.

I had LOTS of fluid though - huge punts. The midwife suspected i was restating a baby elephant but DS was 7lb15 and I just had half the north sea inside of me.

Anyway. Worry not. Listen to the midwife and Dr or consultant you see.

JeremiahBackflip · 04/01/2018 11:54

Googling breach? Footling breach!

JeremiahBackflip · 04/01/2018 11:54

And brEEch FFS Blush

JeremiahBackflip · 04/01/2018 11:55

And I was gestating not restating.

DYAC.

Thanks! Was just a bit concerned, my local maternity ward is closed so if he does end up breech I need to choose a different hospital before they do anything! Was just added stress I didn’t need haha.

DD was transverse until 35 weeks and then I felt her turn into position one night when I was in bed. I still had a planned section and recovery is/was fine (only 3.5 weeks in now) though so I wouldn’t worry if baby doesn’t get into position. Good luck for the delivery!

mindutopia · 04/01/2018 13:53

Both of mine have been breech all of 3rd tri and turned at 34 weeks. I would really recommend doing the breech exercises on the Spinning Babies website and doing some swimming a few times a week. I think my 2nd actually turned literally while I was in the pool. Be careful of your posture and lots of time spent on hands and knees. I would also consider looking into seeing a chiropractor or cranial osteopath, especially if you have pelvic pain or SPD (it's a sign your pelvis is misaligned and that can prevent them from turning). But yes, most do turn on their own and it's possible the midwife is wrong anyway. I had a friend recently who was told all the way up to 36 weeks that her baby was definitely breech and then was sent for a scan and she was clearly head down.

JaneBanks · 04/01/2018 14:31

Mine turned at 36 weeks. Ended up with an emergency section for unrelated reasons anyway! All fine now. Good luck!

CuppaSarah · 04/01/2018 16:34

Dd was breach for ages. Infact she enjoyed moving around a lot. In the end at 36 weeks, on my hands and knees in a warm bath. She flipped head down. The warm water relaxed me and made.it easier I think

YouBetterWORK · 04/01/2018 18:57

Mine has recently gone head down after being breech at 34 weeks. I'm now 36. The midwife thought from feeling my stomach she was still breech and the heartbeat was picked up fairly high so the breech signs were there, then the scan came out and nope she turned! I thought I would have noticed her doing a 180, but nothing. I didn't do any of the exercises, just thought there was time left and what will be will be.

She could have a particularly bony bum which is why we all thought she was still breech and mistook it for her head (she doesn't get it from me that's for sure).

Firstchild7 · 04/01/2018 19:04

My midwife said don't worry till 36 weeks. Cos mine turned then turned back again

MrsPan · 04/01/2018 21:25

Baby was breech at 34 weeks - I joined the Facebook group breech birth and got lots of great advice. I did lots of inversions (look at spinning babies website) and shoulder stands. I took pulsatilla for 2 days and covered my bump in myrhh whilst doing shoulder stands against the wall!!!! Yes I looked crazy! But one night I woke up thinking I was in labour and felt like I was goi g to be sick and that must have been the baby turning as by 36 week appt baby was head down. Me then advised lots of hip rolling to engage baby to stop it turning back! Good luck! X

halfwitpicker · 04/01/2018 21:26

Baby turned the night before my section was booked.

Toasttea · 04/01/2018 22:51

At 37 weeks my baby was breech and by week 38 he had turned on his own. Oh it was so uncomfortable when he turned!!

Grimmfebruary · 04/01/2018 22:58

I haven’t been particularly uncomfortable so I don’t think he’s shifted yet...

My 2nd was breach. I had 2 wks to get him to move otherwise I would have had to have another c section.
I bought a birthday ball and spent a lot of time bouncing on that. Also went on floor on all fours bum in the air and resting on my elbows.
This all worked and he turned and had a vaginal delivery.
