Breast Pump

Hello,
Looking to get some advice. I’m planning on breastfeeding once baby arrives in April, however would be keen to express my milk to give my husband a chance to feed wee one.
I’ve started looking at breast pumps but I am completely perplexed by the variety on the market.
Has anyone else had a similar experience and been able to rake through the jargon to find something they are happy with.
Any advice would be great, thanks in advance.

Medela Swing is the best IMO. I exclusively expressed for my first so used it every 3 hours for 6 months. Don't be tempted by a cheap one, they do tend to be one of those things that you get what you pay for.

I bought the Nuby natural touch digital and it works really well for me. Easy to use not too difficult to clean and settings are foolproof when you've had several sleepless nights 😣 Its pretty comfortable too!
I've heard good things about the medela but it just wasn't really in my price range

I used a medela swing too and loved it. I would keep an open mind about what you’d like to do and see how things go once the baby arrives though. You might have a bottle refuser, you might struggle to express enough for a bottle (lots of women can feed absolutely fine but get hardly anything when they try to pump). I was like a dairy cow milking myself to stop getting engorged but we never managed to get the baby onto a bottle. DH bonded wonderfully with our baby though and I had plenty of breaks where DH took over even without any bottle feeding. Try not to overthink how you may or may not want to do things till baby is actually here- or at least be prepared for it all to go out of the window- you just never know how things will work out for you. Lots of ways for OH to bond/ give you a break without feeding though!

Medela Swing. But I wouldn't start pumping until your supply is established - that could be quite a few weeks. Also, as pp has said, you might not be able express much - I couldn't get more than 2 or 3oz a day but still ebfd for the first 6 months.

I have a 4 week old and wasn't sure if I'd be able to pump and didn't want to spend lots on an expensive pump if I wouldn't use it so to start I've bought a nature bond silicone pump from Amazon. It's really easy to use you just pop it on the opposite breast when BFing and it creates a gentle suction and catches all the milk.
It was about £12 and everytime I use it I get about 80-90ml which I think is really good as I'm not actually doing anything.

I think the original is the Haaka pump I just went for the slightly cheaper version as I think it does the same thing. It's worth a look IMO.

Thank you for all your help. I think I’m just going to wait until baby is here and see what my milks doing.
