34+5 and lately I've been awake on a night time and he's not been moving, (still waiting for some movement) getting a little bit worried now

I had this last night (39+2). Had to prod my tummy as couldn't sleep until I felt something!

Smashpumpkin · 04/01/2018 08:22

My DS never moved at night, made up for it during the day though!
If you are at all worried I would phone your midwife, especially if it’s not usual for him.

Go and get checked out just in case - I went in a few times and they would always rather see someone for a false alarm
Than you not come in. DS never moved at night and I was really grateful after reading about people being kept awake all night but it was his usual pattern so not worrying. He makes up for it now though!

My dd never moved at night. I remember saying she slept when I did. That all changed once she was born.

AnxietyForever · 04/01/2018 08:54

Thankfully he's moved since I've been up, it's just so worrying- I went to the bathroom 2-3 times and each time I felt nothing.

My baby never moves at night (from about 11 untill 7am). I'm nearly 32 weeks. My midwife told me yesterday it was a good thing as it probably will be an indication of the babies sleep patterns (fingers crossed!)

Ilovecamping · 04/01/2018 08:57

Had the same with second daughter, had it checked out and she was fine, just needed the reassurance.

Potteryprincess30 · 04/01/2018 08:58

My other baby was the same and always slept at least 5 hours at a time at night from birth btw Smile

DS1 never really used to move at night but was active during the day and crazy active in the early evening. He also used to go mental every time I was cooking dinner. he's a real foodie now, at nearly 12 months. As long as baby is moving well, then I wouldn't panic. My midwife said baby will follow it's own movement patterns but if those patterns change, you need to get checked

Thanks all Star

Another one whose baby doesn’t really exert itself at night. The first didn’t either (and slept like a dream until 4 months old...). I get a lot of activity in the morning and throughout the day and again in the early evening but never feel them in the night. If anything’s changed from their usual pattern then have it checked out, but if it’s business as usual don’t worry yourself. What some women experience in pregnancy, others don’t.

My first never ever moved at night, only in the day- I'm sure baby is fine Smile

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 04/01/2018 09:30

I'm 31 weeks and she seems to wake and do her gymnastics around midnight then settles back in until 6am ish when her sister comes in to wake us.

DD1 wriggled all the bloody night and barely slept (and has only just started sleeping well!) I'm praying it's true it's a reflection of their sleeping patterns when born!

lookingforthecorkscrew · 04/01/2018 09:32

My baby moves almost exclusively at night. Thanks baby Envy

RainbowWish · 04/01/2018 09:32

My wee ones where the opposite still during the day then tap dancing at night.
My mw always told me to drink a freezing cold glass of water and it wakes them up.

Plus your little man will be starting to get a little squashed so he may have just found a comfortable way to lie.
If you are ever worried though phone the hospital. It's better safe than sorry.
I ended up going twice just to check Flowers

jellyandsoup · 04/01/2018 09:39

Please please ring the maternity unit if you at not feeling as much movement as normal, even if you are feeling some, if movement is REDUCED you need to be seen.

People on here saying "oh im sure its fine" or "my baby did this and was fine is so dangerous! Yes 9/10 it is fine but this has been proven to save baby lives

Almostthere15 · 04/01/2018 11:18

Yes please go to the maternity unit. Any deviation from your normal movement should be checked. I'm sure it is fine but they would rather check a million mum's than miss one problem
