I've been for my twelve week scan... there's two heart beats.

There's two of the buggers!

So help me, I already have one... I don't know whether to cry from happiness or fear.

Does/will anyone else have three under three?

I know a woman who recently had twin boys. And already has 4 under 6. The twins were a complete and utter surprise/shock.
She is tired, she says their house is chaos and the school runs are hard. Had to get a new car, etc. BUT, she is completely in love with them, EBF the both of them and they are all very happy.
I think once the very early days are over for you, it will have become the new norm for you, and you will survive, and flourish!
Huge congratulations Flowers

xxmissbrightsidexx · 03/01/2018 23:10

Aww what a blessing, congrats op x

Feelings · 03/01/2018 23:10

I saw a lady on holiday with triplet girls and a 4 yr old boy. I can almost imagine the shock going from one child to 4 instantly haha.
She looked very busy keeping the triplets happy btw, lots of pram pushing and taking turns etc.
Although they looked like they had slipped into a good routine and had it sorted.

Congrats!

Congratulations, i had identical twins, 45 years ago, they were no trouble at all, I already had 3 [2 boys and a girl]
You don't have to have twins in the family to have twins,
I was told by a fortune teller 8 years before that I would have twin boys
I was thrilled, as I always wanted twins
Always say, I got something I wanted without it costing me anything
I hope you have an easy birth, mine were the easiest of all
They were 3 weeks early, weighing 4lbs 5oz and 4lb 8 oz, so be prepared for them to be early.most twins are

ALLIS0N · 03/01/2018 23:12

Don’t worry about the three boys thing OP, that’s the least of your problems Grin

ChrissyTwins · 03/01/2018 23:12

My son was two when I had my twins this august so I had 3 under 3 tbh the twins were quite easy it was more my 2 year old that was difficult as adding 2 new people to a house where he had been an only child for 2 years took some adjusting. But luckily 5 months on he has settled.

Congratulations, twins are awesome.

Find yourself your local twins club.

Order a copy of “Mothering Multiples”
By Karen Kerkhoff Gromada from Amazon.

Good luck!!

Other way round, non-id twins then number 3. I'm a non-id twin and my twin sister has had non-id twins too so as a pp says.

I thought I'd had a miscarriage (had an early bleed) so didn't expect there to be one in there, never mind 2 so I can relate to the shock, even though my side of the family had form!

I had 3 under 4 but twins are awesome. Second the advice about finding your local twins club.

Congrats!

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 03/01/2018 23:17

Oh god I hear ya. The same thing happened to me last year.
We ended up with three under 2.

Ffs.

I got SO fed up of people congratulating me. I felt like saying 'yes well it's not you fucking doing it is it'. 😂

I made the most of my time left with just my first born, holidays just the 2 of us etc., but I really wasn't looking forward to the babies coming. Which felt TERRIBLE.
And it has been a slog. Which a new planned baby shouldn't really be.
I've struggled to breastfeed, have no idea how to return to work, yack yack yack.

The twins are 4 months now, and our eldest just gone 2.
Luckily she adores the babies, and they're already enjoying each other's company.
Getting around is a pain in the arse. I bought a bugaboo donkey 2nd hand; stuff the twins in one carrycot, and the 2 year old in a toddler seat.

They'll have great fun when they're older, and i do adore havung three children. Theyre good fun.

But I totally, totally hear your lack of celebration -_-

DaenerysismyQueen · 03/01/2018 23:19

Oh my God this has just happened to me OP! I already have a toddler and I own a bloody Nissan micra.

I'm not over the shock yet to be honest. Like WTF!!!!

Have cried and laughed (hysterically) about it.

Jasharps · 03/01/2018 23:24

Congratulations! Twins are a wonderful and amazing blessing. It's hard work for sure but more than worth it.

My 2 eldest children were 15 months and 4 years old when my b/g twins were born so had 3 under 3/4 under 4. It was a lot of work but my twins are now 2.5 and I can honestly say it's been amazing. We manage a couple of holidays a year and meals out. I work! I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Good luck and healthy pregnancy.

TammySwansonTwo · 03/01/2018 23:30

Congrats! Found out about my twins at 12 week scan too - there was much swearing and disbelief since none in my family. It's a rollercoaster but they are awesome.

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 03/01/2018 23:36

Sorry, I've just realised my PP sounds quite miz. Here's some good things:

Double hormones means your skin and hair will look AMAZING.
Your eldest is totally young enough to adapt.
Three is great.
More scans 😊
You're getting Baby World all done at once.
You will be a total SUPER MUM by the time you've got this down.
Strangers say nice things to you.

averylongtimeago · 03/01/2018 23:42

Congratulations!
When I went for my scan 35 years ago and went home and told DH my Nan was there.
She saw the shock on his face and ticked him off: " don't complain, it's your fault being greedy, twice in one night!!"

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 04/01/2018 11:36

We are more composed this morning.

We need a new car, we need a new house, we need an extra hand each, we need a foolproof method of contraception.

We are exceptionally excited, the doings love a challenge - DH is determined to find a way to fit three car seats in the back of his Audi and is working out the logistics of carrying three on his shoulders.

Thank you so much for all your messages - you’ve restored calm to our household!

My right arm is ripped AF from lugging DS around - can’t wait to equal it out with the left too. 2018, the year I never need a gym membership again!

Look at multimac for the car seat. multimac.co./home
Means you don’t have to buy a new car. DH was horrified at the thought of a minivan.

BeverlyGoldberg · 04/01/2018 15:08

Your posts have made me giggle.

Congratulations. You sound completely up for the challenge and your DC(s) sound very lucky indeed.

CuppaSarah · 04/01/2018 16:31

Congratulations!! Two snuggly newborns to cuddle you lucky lucky things. Every achievement and milestone doubled! Imagine in five years their first Christmas Play, watching the two of them doing their parts. You'll be in bits!
