Sore boobs / GG cup bra advice

I'm 6 week pregnant tomorrow and have had really sore boobs for a couple of weeks. Anyone had experience of whether using a wireless bra would help? I'm a 36GG so wires are a must to keep the girls in place! So any recommendations for decent wireless bras of that size, that don't cost the earth, would be much appreciated.

Thank you!!
Smile

Hi. I'm in a similar but not identical position. I've just found out I'm 4 weeks pregnant. I realised as my boobs were so sore. I wear 36FF and was thinking ahead by looking online at bras earlier today. I struggled to find many of the right size even as unwired. I'd much rather stick with wired like you. I haven't got a midwife appt yet but thought I'd ask for advice from her. Am now hoping someone else responds to you post too. Sorry I can't be of more help x

Haha! It's a big help just to hear someone else is in the same position!! Can you imagine being able to pop into Primark and buy a pretty lacy one for £4?! 😂 I just want something that'll lift them and keep the shape!! Fingers crossed we'll get some suggestions 😊

I didn't realise you could buy bras for £4! £40 is more like it😂

I had to use www.nursingbra.co.uk to get nursing bras for my jj (and then L!!) size boobs.
Very few places sell them in ‘oh my god look at the size of your breasts’ size. Sigh. What I wouldn’t give for a pretty nursing bra.
Ah well. They’re back to the normal JJ cup now. Ha.

Bibijayne · 03/01/2018 19:27

Same position 32/34 J. 4-5 weeks. Boobs are so heavy and sore. Read somewhere people can increase up to 4 cup sizes during pregnancy :/

There's always the good old Triumph Doreen Smile

But before you go rushing out, whereabouts are your boobs sore? It may be that your pregnancy has changed the size or shape of your boobs and maybe you need a different size, or a t-shirt style with no seams, or something with wider straps etc.

I think the advice to wear non wired bras has changed since I was last pregnant, as long as they are properly fitted with no wires digging in. Easier said than done! I spent the last half of pregnancy in the famously unglamorous Doreen bra, but it was actually so comfy and supportive compared to all the other non wired bras I tried.

Marks and Spencers do a range up to 46 K - they arent exactly the prettiest [although they have added a couple of nice colours] but they are not underwired and really comfy - I wore them all through my pregnancy Smile

If you want to go the non-wired route I recommend the Panache Sophie. Available as a maternity and nursing version. You can get it in Bravissimo. Worth a visit if you have one locally to get remeasured as it may just be your size has changed and you can in fact stay in wires but just need a bigger cup size. My pregnancy bra size journey went as follows (all measured in Bravissimo):

28F pre-pregnancy
28G 6 weeks pregnant
30G 28 weeks pregnant
32FF 34 weeks pregnant
30H 6 weeks post partum
28H 12 weeks post partum

So in pregnancy I went up 3 cup sizes and then a further 2 cup sizes when milk came in, now back down 1 cup size where it's stayed.
Also simultaneously went up 2 back sizes in later stage of pregnancy but then my ribcage very rapidly contracted down 1 back size, and then over 3 months I slowly reverted to my original back size. Everyone's journey is different though!

I stayed in well-fitted wired bras right up until 38 weeks pregnant; I did buy a wire free (Panache Sophie as above) at 28 weeks but I didn't need to wear it full time, wires were still OK. Wireless became more comfortable from 38 weeks. If wires are uncomfortable I reckon most likely sizing is off!

Thank you to everyone for responding. I'm glad to hear that it was ok to use wired ones snowscreamer. My bras seem to fit alright at the mo but I don't usually wear one at night. I was so sore during the night that I kept waking up so I used the only non wired one to sleep in last night and I had no problems at all. Am going to do this tonight as well now.

Hettyturnip · 03/01/2018 22:23

I agree that you might be more comfortable getting a different shape bra, i’ve found that’s made day time more comfortable. And yes, wear a bra at night - amazing! I like these nursing crop top things from mothercare. Really soft, no digging in round the arm pits where I need the straps tight to keep the girls up (somewhat) in a non wired bra.

Ninjamilo · 03/01/2018 22:28

I was a 30H pre-pregnancy - dread to think what I am now, tried one on for a laugh the other day and it wasn't a pretty sight!

I've stuck to Molke's and a cake sugar candy - I thought I'd hate non wired but they're super comfy. Also have a panache Clara which is very comfy but getting a bit small again now! I think I may wait til after Pip arrives in April before buying any more wired bras though, too expensive to keep replacing!

Theresahairbrushinthefridge · 03/01/2018 22:42

Boobs so huge with babies two and three stayed in wired bras throughout pregnancy.

34 K 😳😳😳😳🙄

gryffen · 03/01/2018 22:59

I'm a GG and YOURS CLOTHING doing great bras both underwired and non wired that's good to use. I would recommend non wired sometimes and a Triumph do a bra called Doreen that's great but about £30. Normal YC bras are between 10-22 quid.

Thank you so much for all the suggestions! Sounds like I've got some shopping to do on the weekend 😊
