Seems like a weird question but just wondering if anyone has suddenly become allergic to things whilst pregnant? And if so will it go away once baby is born?

I've been fine for pets etc all my life but since falling pregnant I can't be near any animals, my guinea pigs included Sad, without feeling like my throat is closing up and sneezing non stop! Never really suffered from allergies before so this does seem to be a pregnancy thing but everyone I've spoke to about it thinks I'm mad! Has this happened to anyone else? I can't bear to think of a pet-free future so hoping it'll clear up eventually.

Yes, I had this during my first pregnancy - I'd never had allergies before but suddenly had pouring eyes, runny nose, wheezing, sneezing, rash...

I eventually got it under control with antihistamines prescribed by my doctor. And it all cleared up very shortly after giving birth.

I've had a similar thing during this pregnancy, only this time it's asthma and eczema. Doctor says that it's the same reaction just presenting in a different way so now I have inhalers and steroid cream. It should again clear up no later than 3 months after giving birth.

@LorelaiVictoriaGilmore I'm so relieved that it's not just me and that it cleared up for you! Only got a few more weeks left (and it has been nice getting OH to clean out the cages for me) Grin but definitely looking forward to the animal cuddles afterwards.

Is it definitely an allergy to the post? Only wondering because pregnancy rhinitis is so common too and displays the same symptoms... X
