Bit of a moan...

I am 12 weeks pregnant today with my first, we had our first scan last week and everything is going great!

But I am feeling really deflated... and I figured there will be people here who can relate.

I have felt awful the whole time! There are so many people I know who are currently pregnant, all look great and glowing and I just feel like a bloated hippo. Already gone up at least 1 trouser size, a cup size, really uncomfortable most of the time. Nausea 99% of the time with occasional sickness which means trousers on my stomach are really uncomfortable and make the sickness worse unless they are really loose. Tired all the time and I feel like I've put weight on all over and just look awful!
I don't think it's helped that I've had the flu twice since finding out at around 6 weeks, I was so poorly and still don't feel 100%, I don't even remember what it's like to feel healthy I don't think!

Please someone tell me this will pass... people keep telling me the first 12 weeks are the worst bit but I don't seem to be feeling much better as of yet. I am just very thankful Christmas is over as all the food and smells everywhere was hard to cope with!!

Get yourself some maternity trousers or a bump band if things are now getting uncomforable, and perhaps a flu jab!

The rest, it's luck of the draw sadly.

Flu jab in the pipe line, just wanted to wait until after Xmas in case it made me feel a bit poorly as never had one before and I've been told it can make you feel a bit rubbish for a few days. Unfortunately I was struck down within a week of finding out I was pregnant so no time to get it beforehand!

I think maternity trousers will be a must soon

I felt really miserable until 14-16 weeks which included over Christmas which somehow made it feel a bit worse. I started feeling like I was never going to feel better but honestly soon you’ll feel so much better and when you start feeling movements it’s amazing

PinkAvocado · 01/01/2018 17:09

Second getting the flu jab! I felt worse between 12 and 20 weeks - everyone is different but if the sickness is terrible the doctor can help.

Thank you, that's really good to know! It's weird as I love the fact I am pregnant and love the fact my bump is growing but I just wish I felt a bit better!
We have another scan in 2 weeks as the first one last week we thought we were about 13 weeks, but scan confirmed 11+3 and they couldn't get one of the measurements so I'm hoping the more we see the scans/start feeling the baby/hear the heartbeat at next midwife appointment will make me feel a bit more positive!

I was sick from the minute we found out i was pregnant right up until I gave birth. I had HG sickness though so was vomiting about 15 times a day.

Some people sail through pregnancy, they get no or minimal sickness, they don't put on much weight, they look great and "glowing" and everything continues as normal for them - I hated these people during my pregnancy l! Grin

0310Star · 01/01/2018 17:13

@RedRobin87 I really feel for anyone who has had severe sickness, nausea has been bad enough!
I know exactly how you feel looking at others sailing through, I am very envious!!

Honestly, OP I couldn't have written this post myself (minus the flu, fingers crossed)

I'm 9+4 and cried today because of how miserable and ill I was feeling. My skin is breaking out and is very washed out. I have the same issue with my trousers so I've ordered some bigger ones and been lucky enough to be able to book a holiday for next week. Lack of energy has meant I've done next to no exercise and I've seen literally no sun for what feels like a life time. Now I've cried though, I feel a bit silly and after my next two shifts I'm determined to move my increasingly bigger ass about a bit more in the hope the exercise will help.

Things could be worse and it will all be worth it in the end.... but I totally sympathise with you Flowers and hope the rest of your pregnancy is glowing Smile

0310Star · 01/01/2018 19:00

Ahh @bloobree I really feel for you, it's awful! I have just bitten the bullet and ordered some maternity jeans as I think the constant baggy clothes is making me feel worse as I just don't feel like myself.
Partner and I have just discussed things to try make me feel better, better food, better fitting clothes and just basically come to terms with the fact that I am not as enormous and gross as I feel!!
Exercise is defeating me a bit at the moment. I'm at the worst fitness level I've ever been due to loss of horse earlier in the year, so had been planning to get back in the saddle in the new year and then found out I was expecting so that plan has been put off for a while Wink
I'm finding m energy a really difficult thing when it comes to exercise, I've been going for walks with partner and the dog on a weekend and struggle so early into the walk that I'm feeling massively defeated there at the moment. In the summer I walk for at least and hour a day but with it being pitch black before and after work it's not working out so well.
I may look into some pregnancy yoga or something, I feel like I need to get my fitness up a bit!
I really hope you feel better soon

I felt like this. I'm 16 weeks now and the sickness/nausea is only occasional now which had gone long way to making me feel better. I still don't feel great but I'm not as desperate and miserable as I was before.

I feel big though. I mean I feel like an absolute whale.... I have put on weight and I'm bloated. When I look in the mirror or at photos I'm not as nig as I feel. It's mainly gone in my thighs, tummy and boobs.

Could you try swimming? I am starting to do light gym and swimming again. I find the swimming great and can see myself doing that until right near the end.

0310Star · 02/01/2018 11:22

@GottaBeStrong swimming is a good idea, I feel like doing some exercise may help.
I know what you mean about feeling huge, a few people have said it was obvious to look at me-not my stomach- and I think that has just made me feel really self conscious! I'm normally a size 10 and only size 14 jeggins fit me now but too big on the legs so hopefully some maternity clothes will make me feel a bit better too
