Can you feel movement at six weeks?

I know I am going to get told no by everyone but bear with me.

I'm 5'2 and very petite / not overweight. This is my second pregnancy and I felt my daughter very early on.. About 13 weeks. I had been feeling it for a while before that but by 13 weeks the feeling was so strong I looked it up and realised what it was.

I am now 6+2 with second child and I can definitely feel the slight vibration above my public bone. Like tiny bubbles or flutters, but very very light and only when I am still.

So, am I really feeling the fetus move or could it be something else like growing or uterus stretching? I've never heard of anyone feeling anything this early before.

It could be stretching. They don't move at 6 weeks 😊

strangerhoes · 01/01/2018 10:17

Do you know what an embryo looks like at 6 weeks?

CottonSock · 01/01/2018 10:17

I'm sure I felt my second dd and 7 weeks, a kind of burrowing feeling

Marcine · 01/01/2018 10:18

The embryo is smaller than a pea so you won't be feeling that, maybe uterus stretching.

BrutusMcDogface · 01/01/2018 10:18

Surely not!? Maybe it's just stretching/adjusting sensations or something...at 6 weeks it's like the size of a poppy seed or something!

celeryeater · 01/01/2018 10:23

I have the ovia app that says six weeks is the size of a blueberry. It takes into account the two weeks you aren't pregnant too.

I am sceptical myself because it is so early but it is exactly like what I could feel last time I was pregnant. The feeling got stronger and then eventually I started to feel kicks and normal baby movements. Unless it is a vibration from activity in the area, blood flow or something... Confused

I think you're probably just feeling your uterus cramping or your placenta forming.

insancerre · 01/01/2018 10:27

It's the size of a lentil
I don't think you will be feeling the baby move yet

EvelynDoll · 01/01/2018 10:27

100% no.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 01/01/2018 10:35

No no no no no.

You are feeling your ligaments and uterus begin to stretch as well as increases blood flow.

At 6 weeks it doesn’t have limbs so how is it supposed to kick Hmm

Rikalaily · 01/01/2018 10:42

They don't move at 6 weeks, slight movement starts at around 8-9 weeks I think, but it's just twitches etc. What you can feel is the embryo settling in and womb twitches etc.

celeryeater · 01/01/2018 10:42

Couldn't it be wriggling? I know it doesn't have limbs, I don't think I'm feeling kicks!

I'm going to go with blood flow /activity...

OP posts:
insancerre · 01/01/2018 10:48

I don't think it will have a brain yet to decide to wriggle

greendale17 · 01/01/2018 10:48

No

BrutusMcDogface · 01/01/2018 10:51

At my 8 week scan we saw little limbs moving around (was incredible!) I'm dying to feel the kicks 😊

With my second baby I felt the kicks at 14 weeks. 17 weeks with first.

Ullupullu · 01/01/2018 10:52

Probably just wind 😂

Girlwiththearabstrap · 01/01/2018 10:58

No way. It's the size of a lentil and cushioned by fluid/your body etc. I'm also a bit unconvinced that you can feel movement for ages in the first trimester at all. Sometimes the muscle twitches/wind/stretching feeling can make you feel like something is going on.

celeryeater · 01/01/2018 13:44

Definitely not wind, I can tell the difference. This feels like a vibration or gentle ticking.

strangerhoes · 01/01/2018 17:35

Oh for gods sake, you’ve been told it’s not physically possible for it to be movements.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 01/01/2018 17:40

You think something the size of a lentil can wriggle? Really?! It looks like this:

NooNooHead1981 · 01/01/2018 17:42

I highly doubt it. As PP have said, it is more likely to be things stretching, blood flow or wind... Hmm

Girlwiththearabstrap · 01/01/2018 17:53

😂😂😂 Ok then it's the baby. It's not doing any harm to believe that. But why bother posting if you don't want to hear the perfectly rational answers?

user1500124076 · 01/01/2018 17:58

Mate, it's not the baby. It's your body making a good home for the baby. But sure believe what you want, it doesn't hurt.

celeryeater · 01/01/2018 19:29

Did you not read my previous post where I came to the conclusion it was blood flow increasing or stretching? Jesus christ, when did mumsnet become such a bag of bitches. People got nothing better to do than pick at and ridicule posts. I was just speculating, excited, interested to hear other people's opinions. Some people need to lighten up. Hmm

I would say it's way too early, but I suppose it's a nice feeling to know that something is going on in there.
