Blurred vision at 39+4

Pregnancy is going well, only issues have been mild Polyhydramnios and slightly low iron. I started having blurred vision and headaches a couple of days ago so I went to the hospital to get it checked out. They did a load of tests that all came back ok and by that time the symptoms had gone. No problems yesterday but earlier today my vision became blurry again for about 30 minutes. Anybody experienced this? Or have any ideas? I don't want to make another trip to the hospital to be told that there's nothing wrong with me.

Sorry no idea OP.

Remember no maternity unit I believe blood pressure can have an effect of eye sight alongside headaches. Hope it's something and nothing but do ring and get checked again

Scoobygang7 · 31/12/2017 16:50

Apologise remember =ring

I would contact the hospital /MW. I think blurred vision in pregnancy is a red flag for pre eclampsia(?) and needs monitoring. They should check your hands and feet for swelling, check your blood pressure and check your urine for protein. Hope you're OK Op

Call midwife asap for advise

JourneyWithMe · 31/12/2017 17:00

Yes, blurred vision can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.
You need to call your midwife.

Call emergency midwife ASAP - it's probably five but don't take risks

*fine Hmm iPhone

Midwife now.

Please get checked out asap, pre eclampsia can give that as a symptom, as well as white or black spots in your field of vision. I'd pop to the hospital with this one. I had these symptoms in my first pregnancy, my mw told me it was nothing to worry about and I ended up losing my son at 36 wks. I don't want to scare you, just to tell you to listen to your gut. Mw's don't always give the correct advice. I'd trust a doc before a mw any day. Take care.

I was checked for pre-eclampsia when I had this a couple of days ago and all of the tests came back ok. Blood pressure was low if anything! Could it be related to low iron levels?

I had blurred vision when pregnant and was tested for gestational diabetes. It's a bit late in the day for you to develop that but is it a possibility? I was diagnosed at 24 weeks

bespawler · 31/12/2017 19:48

Hmm. I had gestational diabetes with my previous pregnancy. The glucose test came back ok this pregnancy but that was about 12 weeks ago so I suppose I could've developed it since then.

BP can fluctuate when pre-eclampsia is developing. Vision problems are often a sign. Also headaches.
You need to get checked again. Urgently.

No one likes making a fuss, but at 39+4, it's just daft to sit on a potential problem, which could make you and baby very ill.

Longleggedlovely · 31/12/2017 20:53

It’s also potentially a symptom of a detached retina, speaking from experience please please please go and get it checked out.

Appleandcinnamon · 31/12/2017 20:55

I had exactly this. It was painless migraine auras. If you are worried though just call the mau x

bespawler · 31/12/2017 21:04

Urine sample came back normal, blood pressure normal and blood test results normal. Checked over by a doctor who had no real explanation but no reason to think it's pre-eclampsia. Very strange.

Exactly the same. Did your vision slowly get more blurred into the centre like tunnel vision?
