Had reduced movement's for a couple of days so been to maternity tonight, luckily alls good and obvs the second the monitor went on she had a party. But midwife said that because its my first time with reduced movement's i need a scan but obvs cant do this over bank holiday. Therefore i need to attend maternity unit every day for half an hour CTG monitoring until i can be scanned. Anyone else had this? Seems abit OTT seeing as CTG today was perfect? And anyone know what they're looking for on the scan?

I had three reduced movement episodes, and waited for a week for the first scan and a few days for the second. But after each one they did do a quick scan before they let me go home to check the fluids around the baby and I had an interview with a doctor each time. Better safe than sorry regardless, I'd rather pop in every day than miss something. I was told sometimes babies stop moving because of a placenta malfunction, si the baby conserves the energy by hibernating for a part of the day. So better to have a look at it and monitor more often rather than not!

I'm happy they're scanning me but was just unsure why i have to have a CTG every day as its not going to give any more information? I'll do whatever they want me to do as long as babys ok but daily CTGs just seem a bit pointless when everything they need to check can only be seen on a scan

Yeah I get you. I think they want to make sure in the meantime baby is moving fine at the very least and that the heart rate is not dropping... Shame they can't do a quick scan just to check before you get a full growth scan.
