Spa treatments at 30 weeks - what can I/can I not do/have?

Every year my office holds a two day summer outing. This year I shall not be taking part in the activity due to large bump but there will be spa treatments available. Besides all the treatments designed for mums-to-be (which cost an arm and a leg), does anyone know what simple pleasure I may part-take in? i.e. Am I able to jump in the Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy pools etc? I take it a sauna is out of the question but are bubbles et al permitted? Thanks.

I went on a spa weekend last year when I was 34 weeks pg. I rang them in advance to let them know how pg I was, they advised me not to use the jacuzzi or sauna. I had a facial and a pedicure which was nice and relaxing, but I had to be propped up when having the facial as you are not supposed to lie flat on your back in later pregnancy. You could have a nice head and shoulder massage and a manicure to be on the safe side if you are worried. Hope you enjoy yourself! smile

the spa is the best place to ask - but be warned they will be hyper cautious! I was not allowed loads of stuff because I was breast feeding.

Hi Victoria, I'm going to a spa in a few weeks, and called them up. They didn;t recommend I went in the spa at all- I guess they didn't want me to go in something I shouldn't, and then get annoyed with them. I also went to the centre parcs spa a few yrs back when I was in really early pregancy and they gave me a load of things I shouldn't go in. Your best bet would be to call them and ask,. Some will recommend you don't go in at all, and some will let you know what you should and shouldn't do. (By the way, when I go in a few weeks I'll be about 30/ 31 weeks)
Hope you find something suitable for you.

Some places have "water-mats that you lay on they then massage you by sliding their hands between you and the mat. Very pleasant to start with, but I personally felt a bit sea-sick by the end! I know there are also some massage tables with holes cut for your bump to rest through, but I don't know what stage of pregnancy these work up to...
The therapists will be able to help if you call them.

Looks like the swimming pool for me then! Thanks for all your comments, I'm just off to cry into a packet of wine gums.

Don't despair - it is definitely worth calling and having a chat with the spa. A friend of mine went to one were they let her sit on a chair leaning forwards over a massage table with lots of cushions on so she could have a shoulder and back massage. This could be an option. Can't remember exactly how pregnant she was but certainly 7 -8 month stage...

I had a pre-natal treatment this weekend that consisted of back cleansing and massage and then full body cleanse and a mud mask. ADmittedly it was a little expensive (I had birthday vouchers) but the therapist explained that massage was safe as long as she didn't use certain essential oils ~(she just used calendula oil) and as long as I sat up on bed for the massage. She gave me a big v-shaped cushion to lean into so that I was comfortable.
