Are they safe during pregnancy? I have one in every room.

Not sure if it’s just my sense of smell being heightened but I’ve been around them through my whole pregnancy now. I’m around 20 weeks

Probably not. I spilt one once and it stripped paint from my shelves... wont use again!

underthestarrysky · 30/12/2017 14:20

*won't

It wouldn't even cross my mind that you shouldn't have those in your home If that's the case then surely some perfumes are a no no?

CuriousVole · 30/12/2017 18:03

Good point beaky. The only reason I looked it up was because the smell was making me feel funny

We got our first during my pregnancy. Husband came home with it. Made me throw up every time I walked past it. He said I'd get used to it. I eventually binned it. Then the lingering scent in the wheelie bin made me throw up every time I opened it. It lingered for months!

I've just been given some for Christmas but I'm scared to open them. The memories! Envy

I had to remove all air fresheners in my house with first pregnancy as they were giving me headaches! Can’t be good for you

CuriousVole · 30/12/2017 19:12

That’s really interesting actually because there’s not much online but yeah if it’s having these reactions they can’t be too good!

Hopefully I’ve not had too much exposure to it, but will certainly avoid from now on

I assume that they're safe because there was one in every bloody midwife room at my hospital and on the desks in the maternity ward, Women's Health etc, I remember because I couldn't stand the overpowering scent of vanilla Envy - not envy.

They are not unsafe! But I avoided scenting the house because most smells felt me sick up until 20weeks. Safety wise all is well, but since pregnant women can be more susceptible to scents, a lot of people avoid them. It's not about exposure, but what you tolerate in terms if scents. A friend of mine wore perfume on clothes the whole of her pregnancy, the scents I used to live made me want to puke, so it's all personal.
