36 weeks and losing mucus plug

Hello, am just mildly freaking out and looking for some reassurance! I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and ginormous and uncomfortable Smile

For the last three days I have been losing my mucus plug, no blood or anything but more pressure below and lots of Braxton Hicks.

I am not ready for this baby and it still feels a bit early! All the Christmas stuff is still up and all the baby stuff is in a pile in the loft.

I have an ELCS booked for 39+4 but happy to try for a Vbac if baby does come early. Just maybe not this early!

I’m finding it hard to walk about with leaking and pressure etc, I’m over reacting right?? Doesn’t mean labour is imminent?

Give your mw a call for some advice. It sounds like it could be the start of things.
Hope you’re ok xx

It sounds a bit like the start of my labour, I lost my plug and my waters started to go at the same time. A few hours later my waters went and I was in the beginning stages of labour.

Braxton Hicks can be a sign you are overdoing it. Is that possible? I suggest a day of literally doing nothing and seeing how that affects things.

Wear a maternity pad to soak up any fluid. My MW said it's important to check the colour and content to see if it is waters or urine. You're almost there. Get some rest and try not to worry. Get your OH to pack your hospital bag if it's not already done. Some women lose their mucous plug at least days if not weeks before having their baby but you will need to be monitored to avoid an infection.

Thanks both! I spoke to maternity triage on Thursday who told me to put a pad in and keep an eye out for waters/blood. I’m pretty sure I’ve not lost any waters yet but it’s hard to tell as all a bit damp generally down there Blush do you think I should call again?
Move definitely been overdoing it and can feel it, have a boisterous 3 year old and not much help at the moment! Might give this afternoon’s walk in the woods a miss!

I think you'll know if it is your waters. I was very damp but when it was my waters 'dripping' I wondered if I was accidentally doing little wees without realising. It's an obvious 'trickle' even if it starts out small, like mine did. Just damp and I wouldn't be too concerned. But yes, slow down!

Also you only need to be monitored if you have lost your waters, if it is your plug then thats ok at this stage I think.

Thanks Wanderlust, that’s reassuring! I had my waters broken last time around so no idea what it feels like. I don’t think it’s my waters, been pretty dry this afternoon Blush will keep an eye on it overnight, baby is still rolling around merrily in there so that’s a good sign!
Will have to cancel my plans to go out clubbing for New Year’s Wink

Apparently, according to other posts on pregnancy forums, lots of discharge is pretty common in later pregnancy and can be mistaken for waters breaking so it might be OK.
