Red patch on breast

Hi

I've had a red patch on my left breast with scaled skin for a couple of months (I'm 28 weeks pregnant now) and as I have no lumps I decided not to worry, but consultant saw me today and is sending me to the surgeon for an urgent check up... urgent means within 2 weeks!! I'm sick worried, has anyone had anything similar?

Any answers would be highly appreciated

Can't believe no-one else answered this. Maybe because it was late in the evening?

I was refered for a red painful patch I was 99% sure was an infection when I went to the GP. She agreed but refered me anyway (and gave me antibiotics). They also sent me to hospital to have someone more senior to look at that day. He said it was more than likely ok but attend my breast unit appt. Which I did. I had an ultrasound and a mammogram and all was well. I got the results there and then. I had....an infection.

Hope that reassures you somewhat, they really don't fuck around with breast issues. Just in case.

Thanks a lot, this really helps. I can't believe it took me 2 months to tell a doctor about it - mine doesn't hurt, and I'm having quite an awful pregnancy but every pain and weird thing has turned out to be normal so I decided not to make a fuss about this. Felt quite stupid when doctors told me off for not telling them!

I thought I would update - I've been to see the GP and the breast surgeon and both agreed it was eczema, which is starting to clear with cortisone creams. The scare..!
