Advice... I don't know what to do

I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant and have being to the hospital a lot recently regarding movements. Mainly not feeling anything but my placenta is at the front so I haven't felt a lot throughout. But I had to be monitors when baby decided to become extremely active... the midwives where happy with baby's heat beat etc but as I had being in a few time they wanted the doctor to speak to me. She was talking about inducing me and going through the different ones but did express it was completely my choice. She examined me and said my cervix was soft and at the back but I'm not sure what.that means? Has anyone else had that.
I've got another doppler test tomorrow due to baby not gaining a lot of weight at my last growth scan and an urgent appointment with my consultant. This is my first pregnancy and I'm unsure on what is the best thing to do.
I would prefer to go into labour naturally but with everything that has happened I am wondering if it would be best to be induced as I don't want there to be something wrong with the baby that is going undetected while baby is still cooking.
I'm confusing and scaring myself the more I think about it and I'm really unsure on what is best to do....

I was induced at 38 weeks. It's considered full term from 37 weeks so no need to worry the baby's still cooking.

I found being induced fine. I was fully dilated and pushing within 2 hrs and it was my first baby. Good luck whatever you decide.Smile

Your considered full term at 37 weeks so don't worry there and I was induced at 38+5 with ease and had baby with forceps by my choice when I could feel her sticking due to tilted bit. Listen to what consultant has to say but by reading what your writing you sound ready to agreeas you've been in multiple times.

It will all be good.

I'm really just unsure on what to do for the best. Didn't help that the doctor who offered me to be induced was telling me how it creates complications if I have a second pregnancy. I just want to know my baby is okay. It seems to know when I go to the hostpial. Being mischievous. I've being having more tightenings/cramping recently as well. I feel a bit over loaded with information and got myself in a mess on what to do....

I just watched a labour video on YouTube by a young Youtuber named 'Jayde Pierce'. She was induced at 36 weeks due to her baby not getting much bigger. She even mentioned the midwife commenting on her cervix being "soft" (which seemed to be a good thing, I think) before inducing her. Overall, the fact that she'd been induced seemed to be a good thing. I hope this helps and good luck! X

My Ob/GYN is one of the top ones in Scotland for people with PCOS and she said that induction means nothing for a second child unless their is internal damage or surgical intervention etc to sort said damage.

Your doctor should not be telling you scare stories at this vulnerable time and shame on them for getting you worried.

Induction is Safe just sudden due to body getting jumped start - millions of woman will have their own stories like me and I'm currently near 8 weeks pregnant with all good signs.

Cervix at the back means labour is not imminent. However, things can change quickly. Earlier this year I was 40 + 4 on a Friday afternoon. Had no tightenings that I knew of. Gyno does an exam (first one he had done) and after some wriggling discovers that cervix of mine wasn't effaced completely and still had 1 cm to go, no opening at all either.
So he found it completely at the back (hard to reach) and did some massage on it as he couldn't do a sweep I suppose. That same night I started to shed slime and some drops of blood (sorry if TMI). Nothing more. Come Sunday I had a monitoring session at my midwife who checked as well after hearing what had been going on: cervix was effaced and open 0.5 cm (finger tip). That same night my contractions started properly at 1.30 am and the midwife was astonished that I came to her at 11 am with 4 cm.
Ok, so they balsed it all up later, as they thought it was going to come flying out (big mistake) but things can really suddenly motor.

I would prefer going into labour naturally as well.

I was induced at 38 weeks for gestational diabetes and so miserable I didn’t get to go into labour naturally with my first. In reality being induced was absolutely fine and the chances are I would have gone over and been induced anyway. Good luck x

Thank you for your responses. Today's the day. I'm rather nervous...

I’ve been induced with both of mine... there’s nothing really to it except Long hard slog waiting for it to kick in... being induced with my first had no impact on my second..

ellesbellesxxx · 28/12/2017 06:45

I was induced after repeated rfm with my twin one. When they examined me, they said my body was nowhere near ready... they put in the pessary, 20 mins later my waters broke and I was 4cm! It was all fine.
I was induced at 36+3(would have only gone to 37w anyway) and my babies were fine

MummyToBeAgain1 · 28/12/2017 12:58

Goodluck! Do what you think is right for you. Either way you'll be seeing your baby very sooon Smile

MissImperfect93 · 28/12/2017 13:14

Part one has being done. Happy to say my placenta appears to working well. Seeing consultant this afternoon

What complications did the doctor say being induced causes in a subsequent pregnancy? I was never told that! A little worried now.
The induction itself was a more pleasant experience compared to my natural labour, it went perfectly

MissImperfect93 · 28/12/2017 15:21

She just said it would cause complications if I choose to have another child. I was getting more unsure the more she was talking as she mentioned inducing me due to me being in so many times about baby's movements then said that as if to not let me go down that route. Hoping when I speak to the consulatant it will straighten a few things out

You should ask what she means. I’ve never heard that before! I think it’s the doctors job to try put you off induction to be honest, I was 41 weeks and mine told me that once she does it it can’t be stopped and it’s better to wait until the baby is ready etc etc... even though the only reason I was there is because previous doctors and MW decided he was so big it was best to get him out at 41week.
I hope things go well for you Flowers

MissImperfect93 · 28/12/2017 18:22

After speaking to this consultant, she wasn't happy that I didn't already have a date to be induced due to being in around 5 times regarding movement. I am now back there tomorrow to be induced. Feeling a little scared now
