I know with pregnancy, your body goes through lots of changes, but there are two things I hadn't really expected.

One, a very strong rhythmic pulsating feeling in the uterus area, likely a blood vessel, after every meal. It's really uncomfortable. Two, and this is TMI I'm sorry, dry and large poops that cause some bleeding every time Sad. On the second one, I drink lots of water but it doesn't seem to help. I used to be very regular but it's gone down to every 2-3 days and is unpleasant.

Anyone else experienced these? Any remedies?? I'm 5 months pregnant with my first.

I’ve had constipation with this pregnancy really badly. So uncomfortable! I think suggestions I’ve read are prune juice and lots of water but I’ve taken to taking lactulose twice a day and it’s really helping. You can get it over the counter. Hope it eases for you soon!

I get both of these. I think it's just the increased blood supply in my uterus that means I can feel my heart beat down there sometimes.

As for the constipation most preggers women get it to some extent. Prunes with breakfast, fibre cereal, beans, sprouts, lots of fluids seems to help me. And I know lots of people recommend lactulose.

Constipation is super common, I had it awful for most of my first trimester, as I had HG so combination of not enough water intake, not enough fire, not enough movement, and medication that slows down bowel transit.

Things you can do to improve it are exercise (don't go mad like lol), drinking lots of water as you're already doing, and getting more fibre into your diet - fresh fruit and vegetables are the best for this, my GP said especially anything you eat with the skin on e.g. apples, pears, plums etc.

If all else fails then get to your GP and they can discuss medication like lactolose to help move things along. But I've sorted mine out since I stopped taking my medication and improved my diet and water intake.

It's a relief to hear I'm not alone in getting this! I'll up my prune intake ;) and ask the midwife about medication if all else fails.
