Am I being over anxious or should I get checked ?

36 weeks pregnant. High risk pregnancy and c section booked for 38 weeks.

Last had appt at 34 weeks all was ok but I have felt crap since. I ‘think’ I may be very anaemia as am exhausted, totally totally bone achingly exhausted. HG has ramped up again and I’m back on x3 tablets a day rather than 1-2. I’m out of breath all the time and even going up stairs is awful. Already on iron but am worried that I need more before my c section ?

Baby has hiccups all the time, which I thought was cute till I googled it 😳 now I’m panicking it’s a cord issue. Also has an odd pattern of movement (always has), v v quiet for hours in the day and overly active in the evenings to the the point it’s painful.

Lots of braxton hicks but not painful just uncomfy as have been throughout.

For weeks I’ve been getting multiple really infected spots on my legs. They look horrible and linger for weeks and the healed ones look like purple dots. Maybe I’m just run down and it’s a skin issues dueto that but I’ve got three more in the last few days and I am a bit worried

None of this is an emergency but my next MW appt is 4 jan.....should I go
To the Day assessment before then? I just feel shit but I don’t want to waste their time as it’s such a busy hospital ?

Do you have an out of hours number to ring for the midwives? They never mind being "bothered" in my experience, even if it turns out to be nothing. Get it all checked out and put your mind at rest.

Polly99 · 25/12/2017 19:52

I’d go in. You’re fed up and exhausted and the possibility of anaemia should be checked.
Don’t worry about hiccups. My DD hiccuped all the time, and is absolutely fine, although still hiccups a lot now (age 11!)

twobarnsmammisonthebus · 25/12/2017 19:52

I would go and get checked out. I had shortage of breath in later pregnancy and they were very concerned about that alone and ran a whole raft of tests. Any change in movement patterns should always be checked out too. All the best

Pregnancy suppresses your immune system so that's what I think the leg spots have to do with. They don't sound like a reason to go to A&E.

Shortness of breath isn't good, though, agreed.

What are your formal high risk issues why you're getting CS at 38 wks?

Helbelle75 · 25/12/2017 19:55

Ring the unit and talk to someone. I did this numerous times and they were really lovely. I was very anxious in pregnancy and they were very good at either reassuring me or getting me in.

MeringuePineapple · 25/12/2017 19:56

Yes I can call the triage unit they are open 24/7 I just feel like I’m being over anxious but I sick of feeling so awful and every day for a week it’s got worse and yesterday and today have just been horrible. The movements haven’t changed it’s just I feel like they’ve always been a bit odd? All scans so far etc fine though so maybe it is me worrying over nothing.
Hiccups thing really bothered me.baby has them so much I’ll ask about that too just in case.

Maybe it’s the HG making me feel so drained. It’s been relentless

It doesn't matter if you might be over anxious - you are concerned and that is the only reason you need to go and put your mind at rest. Go in

MeringuePineapple · 25/12/2017 20:02

Pretty sure the shortness of breath is to do with anaemia I’ve had it before and get palpitations too. I have tablets but don’t want to just increase them I’m case I’m wrong. I could wait till next appt but the I don’t want to feel this awful for another week.
I’m booked in for steroids before cs at 38 weeks due to previous cs and gynae surgeries and a big baby. The consultant was weighing up 38 weeks and steroids v 39 weeks and no steroids but said 38 weeks is preferable

My first was very very (very) hiccupy. No one told me it was bad & he never had problems from it.

Candyfloss1122 · 25/12/2017 20:11

My dd hiccupped daily when I was pregnant, she is 11 months old and still hiccups pretty much daily!

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 25/12/2017 20:13

The leg spots could be an infection. I had a really weird skin infection like that once and it became quite nasty after I assumed t was shaving rash for several weeks !

I don’t know about he rest of it but I’m sure you could chat to your midwife and they will be able to give you an opinion - you may not even need to go in but they will know best. Smile

Worth discussing it with midwifes, otherwise it is a long time feeling worried till the 4th, and you don't need to put yourself through that.

I was on cyclyzine 3x daily for a considerable part of my pregnant, now at 34 weeks I'm on ¹/² to 1 a day, put the tiredness (zombie state) they caused earlier in the pregnancy was unbelievable, so can only begin to imagine how exhausted you must be feeling if you are needing 3 a day at 36 weeks, alongside the uncomfy nights, pee wake ups, crap sleep, limited lung capacity and anaemia.

Not long to go though. Nearly there x

If it's any reassurance I'm 38 + 3 and baby still doesn't have a regular pattern of movements! I know that at least once a day it has a mad session but it can be lunchtime or 11pm, there's no set time. As long as I have that and feel something every 2-3 hours or so I'm reassured. Have been in for monitoring a couple of times and everything is fine.

However I think it wise for you to ring your unit and just have a chat with the midwife there to get some advice about your concerns. They can either reassure you over the phone or have you in to be checked over.

Thissameearth · 25/12/2017 23:41

If you are concerned about a change in your baby's movements then of course call hospital and go through the protocol and checks for reduced foetal movements. However as I read it, your baby is following its usual pattern of little activity during the day and painfully active at night which you call odd. I thought that was actually v typical - you're busy during day and don't feel movement plus your own activity and movement is soothing and puts your baby to sleep. At night you tend to be opposite in both regards. My baby was very hiccupy often twice a day and also has no idea it was sign of anything bad. She also has loads of hiccups now she's 3 months. If you're worried and you're high risk then there's nothing to lose by contacting DAU and seeing what they think of your constellation of symptoms.
