Hi, wondering if anyone else is or has been through similar to myself, so I can stop feeling sorry for myself.

I am currently 8 weeks, due to my PCOS I am not as far along as I thought so we saw the baby during a transvaginal scan at 6 weeks where we saw our little bub and their heartbeat.

Even though I am over the moon, I have been feeling rotten since well week 4.. I have had all the other symptoms like sore breasts, nausea, backache, cramps, tiredness etc.

But since finding out I am pg I have had a week long ear infection, piles, thrush and just this week alone have gained a coldsore, a stye under my eye, a cyst on my groin which hurts like hell (I think it's a hair follicule which has got infected) and finally what feels like a stinkin' cold coming on.

I work 4 long days a week, and pretty much roll on up to bed when I get in. Apart from that I wouldn't say I am over doing it. I am eating lots of fruit, taking my pregnacare vitamins and folic acid. I am drinking lots of fluids and getting enough rest but I just feel awful all the time!

Is this normal?, I am meant to be hosting xmas in a few days, meant to be out seeing other family tomorrow and have work next thurs/fri and I am just dreading all of it.

Also by having infections/colds etc I get hot flushes/slight fever. It never really goes above 37.2 on our thermometer but just wondering if this is a health risk to the baby?

Can anyone give a little birdie any advice/tips/reassurance?

Thank you in advance, and merry xmas to you all :)

It sounds like you are having a rough time of time it.

Your baby is essentially an alien object to your body as our bodies are programmed to get rid of anything alien so your body deliberately lowers its immune system so it rejects your body. You are also busy growing both your baby and a whole new organ (placenta) so it should get better by 14 weeks.

I remember going to bed at 4pm, waking up for a quick shower and food and then going back to sleep until 7am.

Totally normal unfortunately. Didn't go away for me and I still feel terrible at 20 weeks, but apparently for most it lessens around 14 weeks.

Oh bless you. The first trimester was pretty crappy for me too - if I could've slept my way through it I would have!

Your temperature I think isn't a problem unless it gets to 38 (but that's a massive "I think", I don't really know it just seems familiar for some reason). If you're at all concerned, just give your gp a call and take paracetamol to try and keep it down.

In terms of the rest of your symptoms - as others have said, they should settle by about week 14. I felt a difference by 9 weeks though and just ended up holding on to tiredness and smell aversions for longer. Best of luck to you and hope you begin to feel better x
