This might be a stupid question but if im going to breastfeed, will I need to sleep in a bra? Just thinking of leakage etc. If so, has anyone got any recommendations of comfy ones?

Just buy cheapy matalan or supermarket crop tops to hold breastpads in place, no need to spend on anything expensive

I didn't. I never really leaked much. Early days with ds4 I did but I just put a towel on the bed.

You can get super soft sleep bras though if you find you do need to wear breast pads

Good idea to just buy crop tops. Trying to find that balance between being prepared but not buying lots of unnecessary stuff!

I was very leaky with my first baby and I used to sleep with a muslin stuffed into a vest top in bed. Just a tip, I got mastitis and one of the things I was advised was not to wear a bra in bed coz if you do your basically in a bra 24hrs a day and it’s good to allow a little more freedom at some point!

I only leaked for the first week or so and just wore crop tops and pads.

I barely leak at all, I just wear old tshirts to bed but never tend to get any wet patches. You could always wear a pyjama top with the built-in bra shelf and stick some breast pads in, or get a soft sleeping bra. When your milk comes in and your boobs go rock hard you might find it too uncomfortable to wear normal bras.

It poured out of me, so I used a sleep bra (cross over crop top) to hold my pads in place and then also stuffed a spare muslin in there to mop it up during feeds!

I only ever leaked if I didn’t feed them enough, once in established feeding i didn’t leak, and never happened at all with the second as I knew to feed on demand

I've never leaked, but for those that do I've heard good things about Lilypadz. They're stick on silicone things that stop you leaking.

I’ve been leaking colostrum since 18 weeks and need to use breast pads at night. I’ve found that sports bras are great and mothercare do a nursing top that has a separate boob bit (if that makes sense) which keeps the pads in.
Hope this helps xx

H&M breastfeeding vests are good and comfy. I needed breast pads at night for about 6months.

I found breast pads irritated the hell out of my nipples which were already sore. I wore them on special occasions so as not to embarrass other people Grin

I leaked like a garden hose. Every night for the first few weeks. After that during a feed the other side would leak so baby ended up with a wet leg Blush The leaking stopped quite late compared to others, by about 3/4 months.

My solution was to sleep in a fresh t shirt or vest every day and night and to sleep on a succession of towels. For feeds I stuffed a muslin down my top to keep leakage away from baby's leg. Basically you want the skin to breathe. And breast milk itself is really useful for soothing sore nipples.
