Hey, so I've been awake since 2am and this is the third night in a row now. I'm about 5 weeks and I just suddenly wake up and can't get back to sleep. I'm absolutely shattered and I know now that I'm going to just want to sleep all of tomorrow. Is it normal in early pregnancy to not sleep at night?

I am 20 weeks and ive been like this since i got pregnant. Have some nights when i sleep ok but most nights im awake for a few hours

I had exactly the same thing with each of mine. I used to wake up at 2am and couldn't get back to sleep. Then I'd be shattered by lunchtime. I never did find an effective way to deal with it but it did pass by about 12 weeks.

I'm now at the other end. 40 weeks and wide awake with heartburn Xmas Angry.

Thank you both, glad to hear it's not just me but also sorry that you're both experiencing being awake at this hour too!

I’m 10 weeks and this has been happening since about 6 weeks. What’s even worse is when the morning sickness is In full swing and you wake up at 3am and 15mins later you need to throw up 🤢. Hopefully things settle down in the next trimester lol

I think it's fairly standard for some people OP, I suffered with insomnia throughout my entire pregnancy, waking up every night at around 2am without fail and lying there awake for hours. I had the best night's sleep I'd had in 9months the day DS was born!

That's not helpful at all I realise haha but I did sometimes find that getting up, going to a different room and having a drink or something before going back to bed would help, I'd even sometimes have a shower at 2am and that seemed to get me back to sleep quicker. Good luck!

It was my first pregnancy symptom.

Sorry Thanks

Fakingit36 · 23/12/2017 15:46

I’m sorry. I am now 12 weeks and finding it (along with many other symptoms) slightly less bad. I often end up moving to the couch, watching something on my phone, having a snack and water and then sleeping a second shift there. Works better for me than lying in bed getting annoyed.

Thank you all for the tips! At least I know now it'll happen, I will have to try out some of your ideas. I know that last night I got very frustrated and just blamed my partner. So probably best I go to a different room! Thank you everyone!

Me too! I’m now 13 weeks. I keep waking up through the night and then not being able to get to sleep again from about 5-6am, even after late shift.
Has anyone else had night sweats?
Something tells me it’s the progesterone, but I’m not sure. I’m on supplements too because of previous miscarriages.

I had some night sweats early on. Nasty right?

PinkRose24 · 24/12/2017 08:36

I had this when i early on was one of my 1st symptoms only got a few hours a night. Im now 22weeks and its settled down now still have the occasional night where i dont get much sleep. Hopefully itll settle for you as so horrible especially as you feel crap with sickness and what not. I really struggled at the start as i wasnt sleeping and and have a nearly 4 year old little girl to look after....but tbf on her she was an absolute dream and would help me do some things like tidy up ect bless her heart
