Hi all
I'm in need of a bit of reassurance and advice. I'm 17 weeks and so far everything has been fine apart for the usual sickness. Last night I had some pain which lasted 30 minutes or so. Hard to describe but a pushing down feeling inside and a squeezing on and off. Nothing unbearable but different. Today I had the tiniest bit of pink in my discharge and the pains have continued on and off. I have felt my baby move a little today. No more or less than usual.
I have had no bleeding before in this pregnancy and some pain but more the usual muscle pain. I am terrified of miscarriage as have had serveral before but all before 12 weeks.
Should I be callling someone? The midwife? Or the hospital? I really don't know if I need to or not. I don't want to be annoying but I know I'm not going to be able to sleep if I'm worrying about this.
Thank you. And please if I am overreacting and being silly just tell me!

I think you should ring the midwife or if no answer the maternity unit. Will most likely be fine but better to put your mind at rest-not worth taking the very small risk.

Creatureofthenight · 22/12/2017 17:23

I imagine community midwives will be finishing for the day now, though if you've got a one to one midwife you might be able to get hold of them.
Maybe call the AAU at the hospital so someone can put your mind at rest.

thingymaboob · 22/12/2017 17:29

Call your maternity unit.

Seabiscuit1 · 22/12/2017 17:34

Thank you all. I will call. I'm sorry to sound dense but I assume I just call the number of the maternity unit that I am booked into?

The numbers should all be listed on the back page of your notes

Batterypanic · 22/12/2017 17:50

Call your maternity triage for advice, they may get you in to listen to the heartbeat and ask about the pains, maybe check your cervix. I’m sure it will be nothing to worry about but best to ask for peace of mind.

Seabiscuit1 · 22/12/2017 18:02

I have called and they told me to lie down for a couple of hours to see if it passes. If not to come in. Hopefully this is nothing.

Hey. Any update? Are you feeling any better? I think maybe give them another call if no change. Hope all is well xx

Nikki2ol6 · 23/12/2017 03:56

I bled at 20 weeks with my son and they had me straight in. All was fine and it never happened again so I don’t know what it was. How did it go at the hospital?

MrsGB2225 · 23/12/2017 04:14

I hope everything is ok

Seabiscuit1 · 23/12/2017 09:19

I'm feeling a bit better this morning. I didn't call the hospital again. I had another tiny bit of blood during the night but the pain isn't as bad. I'm still feeling very anxious and I would love just to be able to get checked out but I don't want to waste their time if they don't think it's needed. The midwife said that because the pain wasn't frequent (only every hour or so) it didn't sound like it would be contractions for early labour but really that means miscarriage at this stage. DP thinks I should insist on being seen as going away from Christmas and we will just end up stressing but I don't think I can really do that.

Don't worry about wasting anyone's time, you need to go and get checked out so you can put your mind at rest.

For what it's worth it sounds like a big stretching pain that might have caused a tiny bit of spotting but really the worrying alone is a good enough reason to get checked.

ClareB83 · 23/12/2017 10:48

Your EPU is probably closed for Christmas now anyway. Mine is 9-12 Monday to Friday only.

Seabiscuit1 · 23/12/2017 11:03

DP and my mother are pretty much insisting that I get checked. Can you just go in or do they have to ask you to come in?

I would definitely go and get checked. Do they have an early pregnancy assessment unit? If so ring them directly and explain your concerns.

It will be better to put your mind at rest.

Hope you are ok.

Fairybella · 23/12/2017 11:07

Call them again and say you have had more bleeding and need to be seen... of movements are reduced mention that but I would ask to be seen

Mine requires a referral but you can just get it from A&E and then go straight over IF they are open.

TammySwansonTwo · 23/12/2017 11:21

You're not wasting their time! I was like this in my pregnancy - really didn't want to be a bother. Luckily my midwife insisted I go in one day and it saved my son's life.

You say it's not painful but odd - could be very early braxton hicks? I got them super early but I was having twins so they're more common.

In my experience they'd always rather you go in when it's nothing than not go in when it's something. You're clearly very worried, so it's always worth going. Trust your instincts.

Lilychouchou · 23/12/2017 13:49

If your EPU is closed then you could get a private scan to put your mind at rest.

Fairybella · 23/12/2017 17:10

Is everything ok

Seabiscuit1 · 23/12/2017 17:41

Hi all. Just leaving the hospital now. They were very thorough and kind. Baby's heartbeat was absolutely fine and me cervix is closed so that was very reassuring. They think I have an infection so sending blood etc away to check but they were quite happy for me to go home. Thank you all for encouraging me to go. I feel so much better knowing my baby is safe x

Fantastic news (sorry not the infection) but now you can relax and enjoy your week hopefully!

Girlwiththearabstrap · 23/12/2017 18:08

Glad you got checked and all is well - before I read your update I was going to suggest phoning again. Spotting and pains can be normal but do need to be investigated.

ferntwist · 23/12/2017 18:09

Great news OP. So good that you went in and got checked out. Take it easy over Christmas, if you can?
