All day sickness

My "morning" sickness is actually all fucking day sickness although I'm not actually sick unless I've not eaten in a while.

I've gone off all food completely and I'm forcing myself to eat which is usually a load of crap.

I'm 10weeks and all everyone keeps saying is "oh it won't last much longer" which while true doesn't help me right now. I've tried everything everyone has recommended and nothing has shifted it. If I went to the doctors is there any anti sickness tablets they can give me or will they tell me to woman up and get on with it? I don't want to waste their time but I can't take the sickness much longer!

I had exactly the same in my last pregnancy and did a little research in preparation for this one. Most people seemed to be saying that the drugs don’t take away nausea just the actual vomiting which is why they don’t prescribe them unless you can’t keep anything down. Frustrating I know as All Fucking Day sickness is so debilitating.

However I haven’t had this from an actual doctor so it might be worth asking - ‘woman up’ is definitely not an appropriate response, don’t let them tell you ‘it’s just pregnancy’, just because it’s nirmsl doesn’t mean it’s not hard.

I found that sucking hard boiled sweets or mints helped me

Hi, I sympathise with you as I have HG, and I'm 14 weeks with no sign of much improvement yet. I've taken 3 different types of anti-sickness medications so far and been hospitalised once.

There is a variety of medication that can be tried but these are essentially to reduce the frequency of vomiting in women with severe sickness like me. Afaik these medications do not reduce the horrible feeling of nausea at all - certaintly none of them have done for me, and on the hyperemesis support thread from what I can gather some of the ladies have found medication to reduce their vomiting but none have had any effect on the awful constant-nausea feeling that we experience. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I really do feel for you, I think the horrendous, constant nausea is sometimes worse than my actual vomiting especially now that I only vomit a few times a day.

I had an all day sickness for the first 12/13 weeks quite badly, and it sort of lasted until 16 weeks more or less, and then got better.
I did not want to tell at work and miraculously no one figured out, although I felt like retching most of the time and all smells drove me even more sick.

What did help a bit was eating a few almonds at a time and some ginger drink.

I’m the same and I’m 10 weeks also. I had a feeling this time was going to be bad as with my previous babies I began vomiting around week 6. This time I vomited 17dpo!!! Iv had 2 days in week 9 when it eased and 3 days in week 10 but it’s back now and Iv already spewed this morning and I feel too sick to even think about food. I feel sick from about 15 mins after I wake up until I fall asleep at night. If I dare to nod off during the day it comes with a vengeance when I wake up. I find sitting in the bath helps me (obvs with water in) but most of the time I just feel it’s not going to end any time soon

I was the same! Except I also brought everything up that I ate for the first 20 weeks or so. The only thing that vaguely helped me were fizzy drinks - fizzy water and if you need a bit of energy then full fat fizzy coke or Lucozade (which I will now forever associate with feeling like death). You have my sympathy- I've been there and it's shit. I hope it passes soon!

I had exactly the same and yes your doctor can prescribe meds to stop the nausea!
There are different meds they’ll try you on but I ended up on a brain blocker that stops you realising you feel nauseous. Like you it is constant all day nausea without much sickness. I’m now 33 weeks and I think I have had 4 weeks in total without feeling sick so the drugs have been amazing. I don’t take them all the time only when I feel horrendous. Nausea cane back around 5 weeks ago after a short break. Had exactly the same with my DD 2 years ago and she’s fine and healthy and from all scans, harmony etc this baby is doing well. I would highly suggest chatting to your doctor, it may pass as people say at 12-14 weeks but also there’s no reason to suffer when you do have options. Good luck.x

Sucking on a sweet has helped me as have ice lollies. I am 14+4 and was sick this morning. It sucks as I was hoping it would be gone by now. I am getting periods now of not feeling nauseous, so I guess it will get better for me, but the nausea likes to come in the afternoon and last all evening and night combined with a headache (almost like a migraine), which is not just affecting my mood but my sleep. Earlier in the pregnancy I didn't have the headache, so I am quite upset at this added 'bonus'.
