34 weeks - knee or floor length bmaid dress

Hello, I’m going to be bridesmaid for a friend at 34 weeks pregnant. She’s given me a colour scheme but I can choose whichever style of bmaid dress I like.

This is my first pregnancy and I am wondering if at 34 weeks my feet, ankles and legs will be swollen? If yes I’d probably look for a floor length dress I can wear with flats but if I should be ok by then I might look for knee length and heels - what do you think?

Thanks!

I think floor looks really elegant with a bump x

petalsandstars · 21/12/2017 15:34

Empire line floor length. Then if bump expands more than expected it would just rise up a bit

My worries with floor length are finding one (the colour code is burgundy) and I the other girls are wearing knee length so would I look too different!

Why did you ask then lol. Good luck x

At 34 weeks your balance might be off in heels, but you’ll look different (being with bump) anyway, so I wouldn’t worry about that aspect. If the dresses are the same colour two different lengths should be fine. I was told either same colour different dresses or different colour same dress if you’re going to mix it up a bit.

Just to find out if I should expect swollen legs and feet by 34 weeks!

You’ll look more elegant in long. You’re going to stand out unless you’re a woman that carries like you have a basketball up your tshirt. I was huge at 34 weeks. I’d just see what you can get in the colour, you’ll probably find you don’t have much choice.

Having said that this is in the sale and the style looked flattering on me.

My ankles and feet did start swelling at 34 weeks but it was summer and the heat was a lot to blame I think. Personally I'd go floor length. I would also wear flat, comfortable shoes.

Thanks!

Cakeandtea - I had bookmarked that dress!

I didn't get swollen legs/ankles Smile

I was supposed to be a bridesmaid 2 months after giving birth, the bride who had never given birth insisted on buying a dress 3 sizes too big because she said I will still have a big bump.... I didn't at all, it was gone in a few weeks but I only got to 36 weeks Smile

I'd go with long, if it's short it might hang off your bump more obviously

I did go to a wedding at about 7 months and wore serpentine luxe lace dress, knee length, looked nice got lots of compliments really shows bump off tho

I’m going to disagree. I went to a black tie event at 8 months pregnant so should have worn floor length but I couldn’t face it. Floor length made me feel swathed in tonnes of material and it was far too hot. This was in July so depends if it will be summer. My ankles did swell a bit but I really couldn’t have given a toss if people saw them by that point. Essentially I would preferably have been naked.

WildCherryBlossom · 21/12/2017 20:42

I went to a very, very formal event at around 38 weeks pregnant, and wore a knee length (with very high heels). Like PP said. I felt too swathed in fabric in long dresses. My legs were one of the only parts of my body that felt like the old me once my boobs & bump had ballooned. If I had covered them
I would have felt like a walking marquee. Try a few things on and see what feels good. My dress was a babydoll maternity dress designed in a clever wrap style so you could let it out as you grew.

Lules · 21/12/2017 20:51

I like the description of a walking marquee wild that’s exactly right.

I wore this as a pregnant bridesmaid. I styled the top so it looked similar to the other maids

Lulu - how many weeks pregnant were you when you wore that? Thank so much for sending the link, I’d not come across that dress and I really like it!

Thanks so much for the tips and opinions everyone! The wedding is mid April so hopefully temperature will be in my favour!

ALS I was around 20 weeks (but I'm massive) and there was still lots of room, I felt very comfy!

PeasAndHarmony · 22/12/2017 07:23

I absolutely love that ASOS dress cake linked to!

annlee3817 · 22/12/2017 09:11

My legs had swollen like tree trunks by that point, so I'd definitely go floor length. I was a bridesmaid six weeks post pregnancy and also went floor length for that :)
