Hello everyone!
Been advised by MW to take protein shakes as baby is small and will possibly be induced next week.
I’ve had a look in Holland and Barrett, asked for advise but lady refused to help as I’m pregnant. I’m so stuck on what to get! Can anyone help me please?!
Thank you massively in advance Xmas Smile

Had a nosey on google and pregnant ladies are drinking nesquick. Apparently there’s a protein plus one?

Just found this after moseying around google to see what protein shakes pregnant women use

Small world hey! The lady in holland and Barrett told me that whey was bad in pregnancy......although she may have just been trying to get rid of me because she really didn’t want to help me once I’d said I was pregnant!

Hmmmm from what I’ve just read it only has negative effects (like reducing vitamin A) if you take it for months, it says only have it if you’ve been told to by a health professional as protein shakes aren’t recommended in pregnancy as a general rule... unless you need them. Sounds like you need them though! I’d check to be sure, as my information is from googling

I have had a gastric bypass and we need to increase our protein every day. One of the easiest ways is to use marvel milk powder.

Smellybears · 21/12/2017 12:14

It’s so confusing! I think I’m going to try do it naturally, increase my intake of milk, eggs, chicken etc. instead of toast for breakfast I’ll have porridge, have a glass of milk before bed, that kind of thing. Thank you for your help!

I've had a gastric sleeve and meats are your main protein but I use Morrisons Shake powder in milk and it's good. Can't remember the levels of Vitamin A but it worked well before and after surgery.

Protein shakes are frowned upon in pregnancy due to what they do according to the dietician and surgeon I'm under but fortified drinks like nequik or Marvel milk should be fine.

Oh also, Lidl do a protien yoghurt that's nice as do a few other supermarkets- it's a good amount too and 3asy to carry in a pot or via the pouches they come in

I hadn’t even thought of protein yoghurt, thank you! I’ll be going to the supermarket later anyway so I’ll have a nosey for it! Smile
