I have migrated from just nausea to nausea ALL THE TIME and throwing up on and off all day. I just threw up so hard I wet myself. And I had literally just been to the loo. I now have the shakes and feel like I've got flu. I cannot stop burping and sucking up bile. And the bloat. Oh my days.

Please, please, tell me there are others out there going through this horrific-ness?

If they told the truth in sex ed I bet underage pregnancy rates would drop.

What are you ladies eating? There is still NOTHING that I want to touch or can keep down. I'm at my wits end. Please help! I am so sick. Thanks

Oh bless you!
This is horrid! Morning sickness is pretty wild isn't it?
The very best piece of advice someone gave me about morning sickness is to have some rich tea biscuits by the bed. Nibble on a biscuit before you even take your head off the pillow in the morning and that lines the stomach. This really helps. It'll give you something to throw up if you are sick first thing or it stops you being hungry so you can think about breakfast properly.
I am nine weeks at moment and I'm just having to pop in the shops and just buy what I fancy on the day. The other day it was a tube of Pringles, Ribena. Whatever you fancy. I find I am at my most nauseous when I'm hungry so just stock up on plain foods and eat little and often, rather than fill up on big meals. Ginger biscuits and polos are helping atm.
I know it's hard but this does get better. How many weeks are you? Xx

You poor thing, it really is awful - it sounds like you might have hyperemesis which is a lot worse than 'normal' morning sickness. Don't beat yourself up if you're not able to do anything other than lie in bed, rest helps enormously. I would say get to your GP as soon as you can as there are medications you can take which can help (they are perfectly safe - some GPs might be reluctant to prescribe but they shouldn't be) and the earlier you take them the more they will help. The charity Pregnancy sickness support have a website and a helpline, they have loads of really helpful information and can give very good support. There is also a hyperemesis support thread on here with lots of ladies going through the same thing and you will get great advice and support on there. It will be trial and error as to what foods/fluids you can tolerate (the list is likely to be limited and will probably change), but some things to try might be: full fat coke, lucozade, ice lollies (they saved my life), ice cream, white carbs, mango, crisps - unfortunately anything vaguely healthy might make you feel worse. Don't worry about nutrition at this stage, just try to keep as hydrated as you can and get some calories into you. I'm so sorry you are going through this, it really is just horrible Flowers. X

Pregnancy Sickness Support

Have a look here.
Hyperemisis, and it really does sound like you have hyperemisis, is utterly grim. You have my utmost sympathy.

Go and see your GP - if you have trouble getting an appointment, tell the receptionist you are pregnant and ask for an emergency appt. there is medication you can take which will take the edge off the nausea. The vital thing is to stay hydrated - at my worst I only managed this with lemon ice lollies and melting ice cubes in my mouth. If you become very dehydrated, you may need to be rehydrated in hospital on a drip.

If you work - just be aware that pregnancy related illness can not be used against you, and must be record seperatley from other sick leave, but obviously your employer needs to know that you are pregnant.

Congratulations (Hmm) on your pregnancy, and good luck going forward.

Thank you! I’ve not been able to keep food or drink down for the past few days so this does sound like what I’ve got. Will research it more.

I’m 8 weeks pregnant, 9 this weekend. My mum has a great pregnancy with me, but a bed bound one with my sister. I hope that I’m not copying the latter! We haven’t told anyone yet so will speak to Mum when I see her and see what she says.

I’m due to fly to my parents tomorrow. The flight is an hour but the train travel is 3 and I’m nervous about the travel! We managed to get first class seats at a ridiculously good price for the train so am hoping the extra space will help as this train is always packed.

I wet myself every time I’m sick now, so picking up some pads tomorrow to help. My husband doesn’t really understand at all. Normally I’m quite tough, but all I want is to hide in bed and make it end.

Xx

Oh you poor, poor thing. I’m ydtslly pretty tough too, but hyperemisis floored me. I was off work for 8 weeks (both times Sad) and basically curled up in bed and didn’t move for the whole time.

If you are going away - I was seen in A&E and a walk in centre when I wasn’t able to get to my GP. But fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that for you. Are you going abroad?

MeadowHay · 19/12/2017 22:48

Come to the hyperemesis support thread for more support and chat from lots of ladies who are going through HG like you. I'm so sorry to hear you are suffering. Definitely go and see your GP asap, there are a range of anti-sickness medications they can try and it's important that they test your urine for signs of dehydration because if you're really dehydrated unfortunately you would need IV fluids at the hospital. Been there and I know how grim it is. I'm 14 weeks and the frequency of my vomiting is only just starting to reduce.

FE1984 · 20/12/2017 00:25

Thanks all. Will have a look at that thread. I’m still awake and so sick. Husband has gone to the spare room thank goodness.

It sounds like hg. Poor you! If I were you I'd phone up your local early pregnancy unit and try to go straight there. You can often self refer and they are a lot more geared up to help than a typical gp. They might be able to give you an injection before the train trip to stop you vomiting to make it bearable. If you are not keeping anything at all down you may get to dehydrated and end up on a drip. My experience is your better of getting help before you get yourself in to much of a state.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 20/12/2017 09:52

Bless you, you need a pharmaceutical intervention otherwise you'll end up hospitalised with dehydration.

Can you get an emergency GP appointment before you travel this morning?

Eeeeek2 · 20/12/2017 09:55

Go to the doctors and get the drugs. I was sick 20-30 times a day the drugs controlled it so I was only sick a couple of times.

Emu31 · 20/12/2017 10:28

Hi OP, I just thought as well that I wrote a blog piece trying to explain a bit more about HG and how to support someone with it for those that don't really 'get it' - please feel free to share it with your DH or anyone else if you think it might help, I wrote it because I found one of the hardest things to deal with was other people just not understanding at all how awful it was or how ill I was - thinking it was 'just morning sickness' and I should push through it. Really hope your trip goes ok, be prepared to rest a lot afterwards as most of us have found travel to really take it out of us. Remember you can use the NHS 111 service to get a GP referral if out of hours or away from home. emumusings.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/hyperemesis-gravidarum-surviving-or.html#more

AtlanticWaves · 20/12/2017 10:55

Definitely get the drugs. I stupidly didn't with DS1 and suffered unbelievably for 9 months.

With DS2 I was just as sick but took the anti-sickness meds and so was only sick once or twice a day (for 9 months AGAIN).

Rikalaily · 20/12/2017 11:16

You might have a bug on top of the morning sickness. I got suddenly very ill last week, throwing up very violently every few minutes for about 4 hours, felt fluey and shaking uncontrollably then it stopped as suddenly as it started! No idea what it was but it felt like norovirus but only lasted a short while

FE1984 · 20/12/2017 17:14

Thank you ladies! Have made it through the travel and am now resting up in bed. Have a doctors appointment tomorrow so hoping to get help then!
