Where to give birth?

So after being diagnosed with gestational diabetes a few weeks ago I'm now classed at high risk which has limited my birth options somewhat.

The 2 hospitals I have to chose from are a reasonably equal distance from me, but under different trusts. I'm currently under the care of the trust I had my last baby at and really didn't want to give birth there again due to my post natal care and a traumatic birth caused mainly by a lack of consent for certain procedures. I do however want to be in the best place for my baby who might potentially have some GD related issues after birth.

I mentioned I may like to transfer my care to my consultant and previously to my midwife (who I now can't get an appointment with until after my due date...) and they both seemed extremely surprised.

How do I go about getting impartial advice. I'm aware I could call the labour ward for each hospital but I feel like they are unlikely to try to 'sell' their facilities to me as they aren't going to want to be any busier!

I know there are various policies relating to GD etc at different hospitals so it'd be nice to be able to ask all these questions and weigh up my options. Someone did mention to me that there might be professional 'Birth Choice' Midwife/Staff at the hospitals to provide this info but despite lots of googling I've found nothing of the sort in my area!

Does anyone have any experience with this, not necessarily with GD but I guess the same applies to any higher risk delivery?

I had a high risk first pregnancy due to diabetes. Then later in my pregnancy became even more high risk for several other reasons.

My initial birth plan went out the window and I was told I would be induced at 38/39 weeks because it's policy. I actually was induced at 36 weeks.

I was allowed to look round the hospital I had to deliver at, i wasn't given a choice of to deliver though.

I would look round, ask other mum's, look at reviews and talk to midwife.

Although my induction was at the opposite of everything I wanted it was fine, the staff were great. I spent 2 hours chilling in a birthing pool before I had to go back on a monitor
