Hi all,

I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant, haven’t had it confirmed at the Drs yet though! I think I’m around 6/7 weeks, but i’ve been experiencing cramp like pains everyday since before my missed period was due, I haven’t had any bleeding but sometimes the pain gets more intense and it feels like a stich in my lower groin.

Is this normal? I’m really trying not to panic, but struggling not to at the moment.

Normal I think. I think if the pain is in one side they worry about ectopic pregnancies. But cramps are normal

I was incredibly crampy in all of my pregnancies, from start to finish. It's normal but always anxiety inducing.

SlB09 · 18/12/2017 22:31

Normal, I was exactly the same, also had at various points throughout 1st/2nd trimester xx

I too had this and it does make you worry but seems fairly common. If it is on one side or accompanied with bleeding/painful tips of shoulders, it is best to get checked for ectopic pregnancy but it sounds like yours is more central than that.

Thank you so much everyone, you’ve just made it a hell of a lot easier for me to sleep tonight!

@Kedge316 we are at similar stages of pregnancy and I often get cramps. One the other day felt just like period pain and was really strong. Just think it's a sign that I'm pregnant!

Emmastone123 · 18/12/2017 22:53

I've heard it's fairly normal. I had really bad cramping at around 5-7 weeks. I remember sitting in a meeting sweating and thinking that was it. I'm 30 weeks now and all fine. Try not to worry x

I think it's quite normal, I wasn't expecting to get pregnant when I did and part of that was because I was having period style cramps and I was convinced I was going to come on any minute. I was about 6 weeks when I got my bfp and I still felt like I was due on any day for a good week or two after that, so I didn't really believe I was even pregnant until the nausea kicked in at 8 weeks!

It’s normal.

Also these days pregnancies don’t tend to be confirmed by the doctors, depending on how it works in your area it might be just a case of self referring to the midwives or getting the GP receptionist to book you an appointment. It’s worth checking what local protocol before you book yourself a pointless GP appointment?

Congratulations!

I was in agony for the first few weeks! Your uterus is stretching out and oh my lord it could be painful at times!

Juststrugglingabit · 19/12/2017 19:45

Very normal. I get way worse pain early on when pregnant than I ever have with periods!

gryffen · 19/12/2017 19:48

That's where I am right now and we self refer to midwives and get a booking date and scan date arranged then. Depending on where you are you could always call your EPU- I'm having an early scan on Thursday just down to weird cramps and to rule out ectopic pregnancy
