Cramping pains and upset stomach at 18 weeks

I have been having terrible cramping pains on and off all day they feel more like stabbing pains in my lower abdomen. At lunchtime I developed an upset stomach and I have been losing more fluid than usual I'm not sure if it's discharge?

What should I do? Do you think this is anything to be worried about?

if you think you are losing fluid, then should be checked

more likely to be a tummy bug. but certainly possible fluid loss should be checked

Do you know are ante-natal clinics open on Sundays?

if i were you id ring nhs direct, they'll refer you to an epu

lulumama · 22/04/2007 18:17

phone ante natal ward at the hospital, or your midwife, if you have a number for her, and explain,

are your knickers actually wet....? you could put a pad in and have a sniff in a bit, as amniotic fluid smells sweet . unlike discharge which should be odourless

i think you should phone midwife for reassurance

lulumama · 22/04/2007 18:18

no EPU at 18 weeks

would be antenatal ward, possibly gynae...

lissielou · 22/04/2007 18:28

ah, my memories a bit foggy

Nicki10 · 22/04/2007 18:29

Yeah my knickers are actually wet but it does not smell sweet just normal odourless but there is just a lot of it for discharge.

I will call the clinic as thats the only number I have

please do, good luck sweetheart, im sure it'll be fine. just get it checked x

Nicki10 · 22/04/2007 18:44

I rang my ante-natal clinic and they are closed but the answer machine said that to speak to a midwife to call the labour ward. Do you think this is a bit extreme? xxx

not at all! thats what they are there for. where are you? are you alone?

lulumama · 22/04/2007 19:08

it is not extreme, if you are poorly, and worried, midwives are there for reassurance too.....don;t be afraid to call !

lissielou · 23/04/2007 09:11

any news?

Hopeitwontbebig · 23/04/2007 09:24

How are you Nicki10?

lissielou · 23/04/2007 13:35

?

Nicki10 · 23/04/2007 14:40

Hi thank you so much for telling me to call them. I did and they wanted to see me today. I have just been and blood tests were fine and they did a scan to check the fluid level and the baby and all was fine. I am very relieved and it was amazing seeing how much they have grown since my 12 week scan. She also revealed that were expecting a girl!. So over the moon.

xxx
