Not a hard bump, just suddenly podgy - normal?

I'm 19 weeks pregnant at the moment with my first baby. I know it might be a bit early to show at this stage with a first pregnancy, but I was just wondering if anyone else had found they'd just got a bit podgy around their tummy and not developed a bump as such at this stage? I'm average weight and when I got pregnant my tummy was relatively flat (before this I'd always carried my weight on my hips and arms, joy of joys). Now I've somehow gained weight on my tummy but I haven't actually gained much actual weight except for 1/2lbs according to my scales. And it's definitely not a hard bump as such Confused is that the norm? I'm absolutely clueless what to expect and I'm sure there will be so many more weird and wonderful things to come...

Normal for me. No weight gained but tummy is sticking out, not hard yet though. I didn’t get a bump first time round until 6 months or so iirc, quite a lot of looking fat before then

I think because it shoves your insides up you get podge from that, plus the regular bloat you get anyways. Saying that I’m just under 18 weeks and I look podgy but when my womb contracts the whole bottom bit goes hard, so it’s probably less podge than you think

Totally normal.

Definitely normal! I’m 22 weeks and have finally got a little bump, but the baby spends all its time pressed as low into my pelvis as it can fit, so the whole top half of my bump (even the bit that is actually uterus) is all empty and squashy. I’m like a waterbed!

Don't know how to word it but how it makes sense!' Feel'changed recently, was quite hard and now feels more squidgy especially when laying in my side. So hard not to get worried about that things! 24 weeks almost and can't really tell I'm pregnant as wear loose tops plus quite tall I keep reminding myself how small baby is at this stage and how much space s/he has!

Thanks everyone, makes sense and I definitely think some bloat might be involved too! I don't think I was exactly expecting a perfect neat little bump or anything, but I did find it a bit strange that I've definitely gained some weight on my tummy, but according to the scales not much has changed...
I'm finding it funny at the moment seeing my colleagues reaction - I've only recently come back from my honeymoon and a couple of them have looked at me like they aren't sure if I'm pregnant or I've just really indulged while I was away Cake Grin
