boobs when breastfeeding and pregnant

I'm between 9-10 weeks pregnant and I'm still breastfeeding my 22month old DD (only at bedtime or through the night if rarely wakes).
My boobs are only slighty sore, at the sides near my armpits and under the boob.
When i was pregnant with DD they were extremely sore but she was my first baby. Are they probably not as sore this time because I'm breastfeeding and therefore they are already enlarged?

Also what will happen with my supply being pregnant? I do hope she stops before the baby comes but i would happily continue if she wants to. What happens near birth will my dd drink all the colostrum meaning the baby will struggle to get enough? Sorry these may be silly questions!

Thanks xx

Hey @BlueeSpottyTiger although you're still feeding your breasts still change again and also become more sensitive.

Your milk with the hormonal changes may dry up it might not. If it does she could be happy to dry feed if you are happy to let her.
Your colostrum will come in as normal she may try to feed more or not like the taste I guess is dependent on her. She won't drink all the colostrum, your body will work the same as it did with you dd and provide enough for both. However you may find she will help bring your milk in a little quicker.

I am 28+5 today and still feeding my 2 and 1/2 year old lb. I had my first ever bout of thrush which was agony. However great gp that's treat us both so if the pain doesn't ease up it may be worth popping to the gp and having a chat about treatment for you both. I had no symptoms nor did my lb, but the treatment has pretty much cleared the pain.

Congratulations on the pregnancy and also continuing to feed x

Hey Scooby 🖑
That's my problem though i hardly have any pain, and its kinda making me feel worried about the pregnancy, I don't want another mmc again like last time (if you can remember? I have a scan on Friday to check up on the baby luckly)

Ooh! Thrush sounds painful! I'm glad you both got sorted! Do you plan on tandem feeding? Xx

I remember am so pleased for you and hope that this pregnancy goes perfectly for you. I didn't get a lot of pain until later and 90% of it is due to the thrush. I was ignoring it as I was convinced it was just raynauds, but it got worse and made me sure it was also thrush. As with all pregnancies symptoms will be different and not having painful boobs I wouldn't say is any indication of how the pregnancy is going.

In my first pregnancy I was very sore, but this time I had minimal soreness (was still breastfeeding my little boy). He stopped wanting to feed very suddenly one day when I was 12 weeks pregnant as I think the milk had changed. Now 40+2 and pregnancy seems to be going fine (if a little long!!)

I fed DD1 throughout my pregnancy with DD2 and my boobs barely hurt at all. I remember not really believing I was pg because of it! I also had very little morning sickness.

DD1 (she was 2.5) said that the milk changed at the end of my pregnancy and it wasn’t big girl milk anymore so I’m assuming it changed to colostrum (it’s so weird!( My milk came in very quickly and DD2 had yellow poos by the end of day 1 and had gained rather than lost weight on Day 3 as I had epic supply!

I really didn’t like feeding both - I felt really touched out- and luckily DD1 self weaned after 3 or 4 weeks.

I breastfed DS1 through pregnancy, although my supply dwindled in the last 8 weeks or so. The worst thing that I had, instead of soreness, was nursing aversion during the last trimester - sometimes it was unbearable and I had to count down from 10 to get through a nursing session. DS1 was unbelievably persistent though and stuck it out!
I felt I had to limit him during the first few days so that DS2 got the majority of the colostrum, but I found my milk came through much quicker than first time around.
I tandem fed for a year. Sometimes it was lovely, other times I wished I'd weaned DS1 early, but you do what you think best at the time.

DS1 was 23 months when DS2 was born.

I have very bad morning sickness and really sore nipples, which i think is due to dd not being pregnant lol (she keeps nipping me every time i give her milk atm)
I guess it's still early on and i have plenty of time for them to get sore! Argh!
Thanks for your replies xx
