25 weeks and I can't have a normal satisfying loo visit
I'm literally a rabbit/sheep with fcking pebble poos.
Doc says normal just drink more water.
Anyone else fed up of this gastrointestinalrectal mess up that's going on?
Hubby just had "the best shit of his life" and I feel like pushing him down the stairs and claiming life insurance.

Haha yes! It's driving me crazy. I've been this way since week 5, and now 16 weeks. Seriously considered drinking a strong coffee just to help out (I'm allergic and it always 'sets me off'), but thought better of it. I'm sure my bump is mostly down to this rather than baby!!!

Have a strong coffee, bubble! If you aren't having much other caffeine throughout the day, a strong coffee will not be more than the 200mg of caffeine we can have as pregnant women.

Prunes.
Porridge.
Vegetable soup with lentils.
Movicol every day.
Stewed apple.
Loads of water.
Do not have weetabix or all bran. It turns into lumps of concrete in your gut.

Especially do not have granola.
I have particularly painful memories of the aftermath of a craving for granola. Never again.

AntiHop · 17/12/2017 10:59

You can buy movicol over the counter.

RideOn · 17/12/2017 11:02

Macrogol (brand name laxido or movicol) only thing that worked for me and mumsnet to thank for that!

I eat fruit/ veg/ fibre/ going for walks/ already was drinking water etc. It’s the hormones apparently. Tried several large bottles of prune juice, took several glasses a day for days, figs, kiwi, nothing

Wasn’t until I had been bleeding for over a month every time I went to toilet before I took macrogol. Revolutionary. Took enough to “get going” then just one alternate days.

You're not alone! Same here, I feel like I'm about to have a very promising bowel movement and all I get is a rabbit dropping & I think I eat quite enough foods that are high in fibre + fruit and veg and drinking lots of water but nothing, no change.

18 weeks tomorrow and been having this almost my entire pregnancy. Kind of just accepting it as a fact of reality until I push this baby this out. It is a pain but there is one positive - pooping is a rather clean process now. Barely any residue when you wipe as the stools are so dry, so pooping doesn't have an much "ew" factor as it did before. I also like to play this game with myself where I count how many individual pellets I hear hitting the toilet bowl (I call them pellets as they they sound like pellets being fired from a pellet gun :D) - you'd be amazed at the number sometimes! :O

AndromedaPerseus · 19/12/2017 21:43

It's because your progesterone levels are very high during pregnancy. One of the signs of labour I'd dishorrea as the levels fall rapidly. Until then it's a high fibre /fluid diet

Linseed/flaxseed (preferably ground - you can put it on porridge, cereal or soup) and chia seeds are good. Only thing that sorted me out postnatally!

BunsOfAnarchy · 19/12/2017 22:12

Hahahaha @sunafro lolll. Oh the joys of hearing those pellets!

I have a coffee in the morning (only 1 and not strong) and it kick starts me to have a poop. But always pellets.

Today was less pellets and more like normal. Hubby added a diabolical amount of chilli to our food last night (I'm Indian I can take my A LOT of chilli but this was like man vs food amount of heat), and funnily enough...no pellets.

I don't think I'd eat this much chilli again as I'd rather air on the safe side while pregnant but It did help.

@Gideon I may look into Macragol if I'm back to pellets from tomorrow

Chia seeds... mix them into a yoghurt every morning... or any foods. I promise you wont have any issue. I'm 25 weeks as well and I swear by them.

Moanyoldcow · 19/12/2017 23:45

I use Fybogel daily and it keeps every going Grin

Kithulu · 19/12/2017 23:53

Yakult, those little yoghurty drink things, with good bacteria - they give you lovely poo!
