Someone at my work had her waters break in the canteen.
Everyone who saw it has since repressed the memories, because she is the only person who ever mentions it!

It's really unlikely though and actually none of my other friends' waters went until they were well into labour and at the hospital (so within a couple of hours of giving birth).
Are you stopping work soon though? You must be getting tired in this heat.

i went out to lunch with a client last week, and their accountant did!
both of mine the waters went before i had proper labour contractions, and both at 37 weeks. I finished at about 33 weeks with both of them, and waters went at night, so I wouldn't have been at work anyway.

i think around 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 women have their waters break as the first sign of labour ! so don;t worry !

more likely to have a show first, then some contractions, then waters going in labour !

and if they break, at work, in the car, in the supermarket, not a whole lot you can do about it !!

This is just one reason I really believe women should stop work at 36 weeks.

When she had me my Mum's waters broke while she was on a ward round (she was a doctor).

I used to worry about this too and for the last two weeks carried a bottle of mineral water around with me so that I could drop it if my waters broke and blame it on that.

Of course after labour and the feeling that everyone who had ever worked for my local hospital had had their hands up my fanjo at some point throughout it the thought of my waters bresking in a public place was the least of my worries

I know, I know , I'm not the brightest mum on the block - like anyone would have believed me

colditz · 22/04/2007 08:50

It' not like it is something you have any control over though, like wee. It's something you can't help. would you dread throwing up in public?

I reckon if your waters break i public, you'll be too excited to think, "Oh I'll just spill that water now!"
I wore maternity pads for the last couple of weeks, just incase.
