Previously posted about not wanting to tell work.
It's my first day back after nearly a week off due to morning sickness.
I ended up in hospital Friday & Saturday, on a drip and anti sickness meds.
Will telling work help at all? Or will I be met with judgement?
Think I overthink just about everything atm.

Anyone else been in the same boat?

You can't be discriminated against for any pregnancy related sickness. I told my boss at 7 weeks due to really bad nausea and said I may need a bit if flexibility with home working. Better to be upfront and honest so they know what is going on.

Hope you're feeling better.

I had the same on my second pregnancy and spent lots of it in hospital with hyperemesis (sp) and then placenta praevia. I could t even look at food in magazines or on TV. Hope you feel better soon. Mine lasted til I was 17 weeks but I know of a work colleague who had t until she gave birth on all three of her children.

@tinytemper66
That's what I was in for over the weekend.
With my first successful pregnancy I had morning sickness 24/7 for the entire 9 months. But it was more manageable than this.

I used to have severe morning sickness and getting sick when I even looked at food. I got really weak and just like you had to be hospitalized for a drip and anti sickness meds. First 3 months were awful. I have taken most of this year's leave during the first semester and I informed my boss about this and they were aware of it. I think you do the same so that they know your situation.

Boss knows now! Grew some balls and just told her- average reaction I guess. At least that explains the last weeks illness.
I have 2 days holiday left until April though- and then will be using all holiday for the days our childminder is off for. So unfortunately using holiday to cover while I'm so ill isn't an option Sad

You shouldn't be using holiday to cover pregnancy related illness. If you've got hyperemesis you'll likely have lots more time off. It's a really serious illness. It was the leading cause of maternal death before they started giving anti sickness medications and IV fluid. I'm 36 weeks now and I have it. People do not understand it unless they've had it or know someone who has had it.
Join the hyperemesis support thread on here. Lots of us going through the same thing. You're not alone and you're not being dramatic!

Pregnancy related sickness is protected. Please don't use any holiday. And please don't feel guilty.
I have severe spd and have been signed off for eight weeks, and will be of another eight until I deliver. I can't do anything about it.
You need to take care of yourself.

Head over to the hyperemesis thread OP. We're all in the same boat. I've had 8 weeks off but no hospitalisation thankfully.

You should be using annual leave for sickness absence! Especially not where it's pregnancy related.
