We have our annual family ski trip in Jan. I will be 8 weeks by then. Is it safe to snowboard? Or should I just skip it to be on the safe side?

Obstetrician: skiing safe under 12 weeks as fetus protected by the pelvis.

That is misleading though. My baby was fine but I needed treatment and drugs for a bad break which was difficult due to pregnancy.

I wouldn’t. I’m super risk-averse though and if anything happened I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. Especially if someone banged into mr rather than it being something I did? It’s one holiday, there will be others.

I skied at 12 weeks, rode horses to 14 weeks and was happy doing it. Had one entertaining fall - on an icy black - a very gentle transition between sliding on edges and sliding on my side. Took a while to organise stopping but very gentle fall. I felt happier on reds and pisted blacks (Dolomites so not Face or anything!) as there were fewer numpties. I did avoid the highest glacier resorts as I read something that suggested altitude might be an issue if not accustomed. I skied better than ever and am now fitter than I ever was.

I would say that walking around a lot of resorts is riskier than skiing sensibly what with the icy roads and inexperienced drivers in unfamiliar cars...

I stopped riding when getting off the horse got uncomfortable!
