I really need to get some pregnancy bras, but need measuring, do mothercare do it, or anywhere else anyone know of?

yes but they are shit at it ime. Your general chian store will do it debenhams, m & S john lewis etc.

Hope you get something nice.

SKYTVADDICT · 20/04/2007 12:48

Yes, I got measured at mothercare twice during this pregnancy and have been fine with both sets of bras that I have bought.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 20/04/2007 12:48

Mothercare do do it but - ime - not very well. She measured me, brought me a load of bras, scrutinised me wearing them (embarrassing) said "no, none of them are any good" and came back with another lot which were all different sizes (none the size I'd been "measured" at). It was very hit and miss. I suppose the plus is that you don't have to keep getting dressed to go and get some more to try.

littleducks · 20/04/2007 12:50

yes badly,

m and s bit better as are john lewis

SparklyGothKat · 20/04/2007 12:50

will the M&S do it at the outlet store near me then??

Hi there
I believe Mothercare do but I haven't tried the service.
I went to M&S which was ok but they don't measure you, they just provide a "fitting" service which basically entailed me choosing a maternity bra roughly in the size I thought I would be, then the assistant came and checked it and said I could probably go up a cup size...
I still don't feel I'm getting the same support from the maternity bra as I did from some of my underwired bras though!!

littleducks · 20/04/2007 12:51

yes but the maternity bras will be full price not outlet price (in my experience)

SparklyGothKat · 20/04/2007 12:52

should normal support bras or sport bras be ok? (its been 6 years since I did this last lol)

I went to John Lewis and they were really helpful - they had a good range of "maternity" bras too

SparklyGothKat · 20/04/2007 12:55

ok, JL or M&S are better (also nearer than mothercare) will check them out

Mothercare do have a measuring service but I wasn't very impressed with their accuracy. Blooming Marvellous were great IME!
Or any other big department store should also be able to help...

eemie · 20/04/2007 13:35

Yes Mothercare do but in my case they were hopelessly wrong. Hard to believe the woman had any training at all and she'd have been happy to sell me the wrong size altogether. Had much better service from John Lewis and from Dickens and Jones

MrsApron · 20/04/2007 13:43

anything that fits that is supportive without a wire is fine. Either a sports or normal bra will be fine.

I think though the maternity ones have more adjustable backs and stretchier cups to allow for growth.

SparklyGothKat · 20/04/2007 14:48

ooooooooo that sounds good, just that I saw an ad in a magazine yesterday for 2 support bras for £10, and wondered if they would be ok.

I got measured at M&S and then bought mine from figleaves.com as M&S didn't do my size. Was glad in the end because the bras came in the post the next morning and were cheaper than M&S anyway!

You could always try your local branch of the NCT. Many have volunteer fully trained bra fitters. www.nct.org.uk to find your nearest branch.
