it's a sieve to fish the poo out, isn't it?

Enid · 20/04/2007 09:46

I bought NOTHING except the pool

dh used the garden hose to fill it

I didnt poo myself

dh did a brill job of cleaning and emptying it after

ceolas · 20/04/2007 09:46

Glad I'll not be emptying it!

Poo is a distinct possibility

Did you have a pump to inflate it enid?

OP posts:
Enid · 20/04/2007 09:47

we already had one (inflatable mattress/ kids paddling pools)

Enid · 20/04/2007 09:48

I didnt think I would get to use it (fast labours) also dh was sceptical so I wanted to have the option but it to be as cheap as possible, we were on a tight budget!

in the end it was lovely - I used it for about 2 hours, really did not need any of the other stuff

Enid · 20/04/2007 09:49

use a kitchen sieve and throw it away after

ceolas · 20/04/2007 09:50

OK, so we have one of those pumps. Assume it will do.

DH is worried about the boiler issue. Ours is ancient. Do you have a fancy combi job?

The bassine is lovely. Lovely company as well. They say their hose dooesn;t have toxic stuff in like other hoses.

You'll need the pump with this pool, but I think it comes with it as part of the kit anyway. It blows it up really really quickly using the pump.

MrsBadger · 20/04/2007 09:52

if your boiler can cope with running a hot bath it should be fine...

ceolas · 20/04/2007 09:54

Yes, we can get a hot bath no problem, but this thing mus be about 2 or 3 baths-ful surely?

OP posts:
ceolas · 20/04/2007 09:54

must

OP posts:
Enid · 20/04/2007 09:54

no we have no combi boiler

dh put the hot water on as soon as I went into labour and filled the pool - it took about 45 mins if that. by the time I needed it topped up (an hour and a bit later) the tank was hot again.

gess · 20/04/2007 09:55

It's quite narrow ceolas- It's the narrowest (and deepest ) of all the inflatable birth pools. I'd say it was about a bath full.

ceolas · 20/04/2007 09:57

Oh no, will it be wide enough for my hefty posterior?

OP posts:
gess · 20/04/2007 10:00

Yes- it'll be fine- I'm hefty and fitted easily into it. It has handles too hold onto as well inside. I must say I have never given birth in it! (3- c-sections me) but I've put it up and taken it down on numerous occasions- see here . And yesterday they emailed me to offer me a second they have for free to replace my split one, so I think they're a lovely company

ShowOfHands · 20/04/2007 10:00

I'm waiting for my La Bassine to arrive atm. I believe it being narrow is a good thing (I'm sure your posterior will fit just fine!). It is supposed to make you feel protected and cosy.

Enid · 20/04/2007 10:05

I am not THAT hefty but I am tall (and was vastly pg obv!)

I had plenty of room and it felt like my own cosy private space

I gave birth it in with no problems [misty-eyed emoticon]

ceolas · 20/04/2007 10:19

Ok I am convinced

So I just need the pool. No pump. Garden hose will do?

Tarpaulin?

Did you spill much water?

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 20/04/2007 10:20

You will need one of these

Enid · 20/04/2007 10:23

lol

no i didnt spill much water

I did get out to deliver the placenta and that was mucky - we have a painted wooden floor and it all seemed to clean off - presume dh did that as well!
