Very very cross!

Background - DH and I living with MIL while we buy a house.

I have come in from work this evening , ravenous and craving a very carb heavy dinner of cheese toastie and chips (please don't judge!) DH gets straight on it preparing for me.

I make a cup of tea fir myself and MIL and tuck into a piece of bread and thickly slathered butter as I tell them about my day.

DH shouts "Good god!" And goes on to berate me about pure fat intake etc. MIL chimes in with "it'll be your own problem when you get too gat and have problems"

I feel so angry, especially as MIL only was told this weekend about my pregnancy.

Angry

Came on here expecting that yoy' d been told off for having sushi or grow or something equally frowned upon. Bread & butter is a new one! Glad she apologised!

Bobbiepin · 04/12/2017 19:24

God, autocorrect. Brie not grow....

Ropsleybunny · 04/12/2017 19:27

Tell them to get lost, it's none of their damn business.

Elledouble · 04/12/2017 19:28

Cheese on toast and maltesers were basically all I wanted to eat during my pregnancy. No fucker told me off (they wouldn’t have dared, I was very angry)

GertrudeCB · 04/12/2017 19:30

Good god, during my 2nd pregnancy white carbs butter and fish paste where the only things I could stomach. The only times dh commented was a " well done for keeping that down" type comments.
Eat whatever the fuck you fancy, your an adult .

bottlegreen · 04/12/2017 19:32

Good on you Elledouble!

Don't think MIL will say anything again... I was uncharacteristically radgy towards her.

DH on the other hand... Hmm

DH will learn what's good for him soon enough. I blub on mine so often about nothing at all he now thinks every sniff is the beginning of a meltdown. And it's winter!

Veggiehappy · 04/12/2017 20:31

My husband has nagged me about not eating properly. I can feel that im getting fatter too and it's horrible - he hasnt mentioned that although he did grab my tummy gently and say hello baby...which made me feel a bit sensitive about it all! He's stopped commenting on my food intake after i had a go at him and told him he's not the one having to feel like utter rubbish all day and feeling sick at the prospect of eating anything healthy!

I’ve been relatively lucky throughout my pregnancy people have generally kept their opinions to themselves. That may be because, my family in particular know me well and also because I don’t give 2 hoots about other opinions on my body and what I’m putting in it. Having said that on the handful of times anyone has commented I’ve found saying ‘are you going to try and take it off me?’ Effective especially if a sinister enough tone is used Grin
