Yes or no?

I would say yes if it is pasteurised. No if unpasteurised...

I'd say no, if uncooked. Pasteurised or not makes little difference with these type of cheeses, because of the moisture content. (Same with Brie etc., which is a no-no even if pasteurised). But you can have it in sauces that you boil gently, for example, or well grilled - listeria tends to die after only 2 minutes at 70C.

Yes to hard pasterised Goats Cheese - no to any that is soft.

berolina · 19/04/2007 12:27

yes, I was thinking of the soft type, cupcake - if hard and pasteurised it should be OK. (I believe even hard unpasteurised cheeses, such as Parmesan, are OK, but would still tend to have them in cooked form).

Have a look a this thread I started a while ago, I think it might help. I've been eating goats cheese, albeit cooked and piping hot. HTH

Thanks Hopeitwontbebig, and the rest of you. I was hoping it would be ok as I love it and am already hacked off at missing out on all the other lovely cheeses.
