I'm 9 weeks pregnant and this is my first. I always said that when i got pregnant I would not be one of those women that treats it like an illness.
I am worries I am the complete opposite. I am absolutely exhausted all the time, I feel like I'm constantly hungover. I use to eat like a horse but now nothing appeals, I am never hungry and am forcing myself to eat.
The worst I am finding is my boobs, they a so soar and feel 10 times worse at night. Is this normal? If I'm complaining now will I be worse when baby is here and milk comes? Am I being a big moany baby?? 😣

Hi my lovely, try not to worry. It is a lot to take in. Your body is going through the most amount of changes it will do in your life. Yep the boobs are normal.... Mine feel like they're on fire and I'm only six weeks.
I've got a little boy who is five. And from what I can remember the boob pain doesn't last the whole nine months. It's only the first bit. Towards the end when the milk comes you will be absolutely fine.
I usually eat like a horse too, but at the moment I'm only having a little bit of what I fancy. Sometimes I don't fancy anything but I do make myself eat a little bit of something. Your baby will need nutrients and you need to eat to keep your strength up, otherwise you will be really tired. Even if you just have a glass of milk and a muffin. As long as you're eating a little bit when you can!
It's crazy time, but it will be totally worth it! 😉

The first trimester is awful!! Hopefully the second trimester will be much nicer, it always is for me. I love being pregnant after 16 weeks! Boobs hurt for a couple of weeks for breastfeeding, but it's all fine after that. I do think the first few months of motherhood is similar to the first trimester: uncomfortable, sometimes painful, big lifestyle change. After that, it really does improve Smile

Boobs: try a cold compress. You can get gel pads for breastfeeding (to use hot/cold). Invest in them now and stick some cool pads in your bra!

I felt really really awful around 10 weeks too, I’m now 14 and feel a million times better... try and hang in there and keep positive!

Sending you lots of happy painless boob thoughts and hoping you feel better soon! Flowers

“One of those women”?!!!! You’ll learn.

KalaLaka · 28/11/2017 22:43

littlekiwi not nice! Take a hike to AIBU

But but but! If you have an easy pregnancy, you’re lucky. If you don’t, you’re unlucky not weak or whiney...

Same applies to easy/ difficult children. And it’s something everyone learns - very easy to be judgmental about the tantrumming toddle in the supermarket before you have kids and then you suddenly find oh yeah, toddlers have tantrums and you have a toddler...

I think each pregnancy and woman is different. With my first (10 years ago!) had the best pregnancy ever! This one is quite different but I'm still grateful as some women have it really hard. For me 2nd trimester is easier but like you appetite not back to what it once was. Good luck and really hope it gets easier for you!

littlekiwi fair point Smile when I look back on myself before children, I was so ignorant and make ridiculous (silent) judgements of parents based on their children's behaviour. things have certainly changed Grin. However, women in their first pregnancy, feeling low and vulnerable, probably don't need this discussion right now, that's all.
