Am only 4+2 after a mc at 9w. Have got darkening preg tests every day and nausea and sore boobs. Have also got period pains that I can’t ignore. Is this ever normal? Sad

I've cramped, bled, passed clots and had a threatened miscarriage but I'm 36 weeks and possibly meeting my little one soon! Don't loose hope just hang in there Flowers

Hannabee123 · 27/11/2017 19:03

P.s stop doing pregnancy tests as they cost a fortune and get on the vitamins and arrange a midwife appointment! Get your antenatal care started

BunloafAndCrumpets · 27/11/2017 19:25

Haha thanks. I have a bag of cheap internet tests so no motivation to stop really 😂

I had to cancel my midwife booking last time as had just lost the baby, was horrible, am not in a rush for that

So pleased to hear it’s working out for you, thank you, all the best with your little one.

Trust me start taking your folic acid and your midwife should be booking an appointment around 8 weeks to assist you. I know it's easier said than done but don't be put off by what has happened in the past. Keep thinking positive and be kind to yourself

pastabest · 27/11/2017 19:54

The crampy feeling is normal and a good sign that things are growing.

The pregnancy tests getting darker is no indication of how pregnant you are. Put Them Down.

I've been there with the miscarriage. Had a successful pregnancy after that and I am now pregnant again for the third time.

Was the mc your first pregnancy? It's really really common to miscarry your first (for some reason) ands it's crap because it robs you of the innocence of early pregnancy forever more.

Just look after yourself, book the appointment and perhaps see if you can have an earlier scan due to your anxiety because of your previous mc.

I had quite painful cramps with my DS. He's 4 now. I was really worried too, as I had had 2 miscarriages prior to that but it was all totally fine.

I've had three miscarriages, one successful pregnancy (now a stubborn, tantrummy 1 y/o) and I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my second. Both this and my previous successful pregnancy I had terrible cramps from the get go, at around 8 weeks (in both pregnancies) the cramps reached fever pitch and were bad enough to wake me and terrify me.
With the pregnancies I lost (2 at 6wks and 1x MMC at 12 weeks) I had very little cramping - though I did have aching lower back pain once I'd started to miscarry but nothing much prior to bleeding.
Cramping is a good sign I think!
Good luck OP, the 1st trimester is nothing but worry! I hope you can relax and try to enjoy your pregnancy

ForFuckSakeSusan · 27/11/2017 22:06

Very crampy early pregnancy here too! I also started a thread about it because I had convinced myself something was wrong, I did also then have a massive bleed but all turned out just fine and I'm currently staring at my 6 week old sleeping soundly in his crib! Stop testing, get some folic acid and arrange your first midwife apt. Congrats!

Pickleshickles · 27/11/2017 22:16

I had terrible cramps at 5-7 weeks with my first. It was the bloody pregnacare doing it! He's 6 now :)

Pickleshickles · 27/11/2017 22:17

Oh and with the pregnancies I lost at a similar gestation I had no warning signs at all, just sudden bleeding.

Rebeccaslicker · 27/11/2017 22:23

I cramped from before getting a positive test to about 10 weeks. She's now 2.5 and still a real pain sometimes Wink

Lots of luck - statistically you're far more likely to be fine than not.

GruffaloPants · 27/11/2017 22:24

I had period type cramps early in both pregnancies - think it is common. Both babies perfectly OK.

Eilasor · 27/11/2017 22:30

I'm 6w+5 at the moment and get quite a bit of cramping relatively sporadically. Sometimes quite severe. I had it in my other two pregnancies as well and both were fine. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, OP, it's normal to be cautious and overthink a bit more this time around. Flowers

BunloafAndCrumpets · 27/11/2017 22:32

Thank you so much all of you for sharing your stories, they have really helped to calm me down and I’m going to re-read them whenever the cramps come!

Flowers for everyone who’s lost a little one. It is so reassuring to hear you’ve gone on to have healthy children!

I am taking folic acid etc thanks (have been for months!) 👍

This is my third pregnancy, I have a DD.

Thanks again. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Oh and an early scan is a good idea, I think I’ll try and book one, thanks.

Reassuring story here!

I had awful cramps early on and finally went to A&E as I was in agony at 6 weeks! Im sure you’re fine, please don’t worry, but it can be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy, so please get checked out if you’re in a lot of pain and/or you’re worried.

They did a scan and another one at 8 weeks to double check and all was fine! The pain finally calmed down at about 18 weeks (sorry!) and it was just ligament pain - muscles stretching.

She’s a lovely little bossy gorgeous 5-year-old now! She was just getting herself comfy in there, she’s still a fidget now!

CallMeDollFace · 27/11/2017 22:43

Yes, very bad cramps at around 8 weeks and all was well. I did read much later on that it may have been related to pregnancy vitamins with iron, so that might be something to consider. You only really need the folic acid and a decent diet. I’ve also had two mcs and neither of those involved cramps at all. Go figure.

Mrstobe90 · 27/11/2017 23:07

Cramping in early pregnancy can be normal as your uterus is expanding. I had quite a bit of it and was terrified that it was something bad but I’m now 28+2 Smile
Unless you pass bright red blood, you usually won’t have to worry xx

TurquoiseDress · 28/11/2017 06:47

@BunloafAndCrumpets
I echo what others have said- get yourself referred to maternity so you're in the system and can get things rolling.

I was shocked to get a BFP yesterday, I'm around 4+5 and I considered not bothering with the maternity referral for at least a few more weeks.

Last year I had a MMC at 12+6, my booking appointment was only done the week before the dating scan although I had self- referred at around 6 or 7 weeks when I found out.

I still remember having all the booking blood bruises up my arm as I had the scan.

Anyhow, I've done the referral now and hoping I can get an early scan at 7 or 8 weeks.

It's such an anxiety inducing time.
This is also my third pregnancy and I have a 3 year old.

Good luck Thanks

Very crampy in early pregnancy here too. DD is now rapidly approaching 4.

Congratulations! All the best for the rest of your pregnancy Flowers

BunloafAndCrumpets · 28/11/2017 09:43

I've just found this thread again and wanted to update in case anyone else finds it. The cramps settled down and I had a normal pregnancy, and now have a five week old baby boy. We are so happy and relieved he's here. Thank you to everyone who posted.
