Anyone else have a tilted uterus? Did it effect your pregnancy? X

Mine was retroverted, it tipped itself forwards at some point during the first trimester, as is usual

Whizziwig · 27/11/2017 11:53

Mine is very retroverted, although I didn't know until I had a scan when pregnant. I think it affected a couple of things. Despite having quite large babies, I didn't show until fairly late on in pregnancy and had quite neat bumps both times, which I put down to the fact that the babies were tucked fairly far back. Also, in both labours I felt all contractions in my back. That might just be my body, but I assumed it could have something to do with the fact that my uterus is tilted far back towards my spine.

Girlwiththearabstrap · 27/11/2017 12:06

Yes I have one. I don't think it really affects pregnancy at all. Early scans can be harder but the uterus tends to tip forward as pregnancy progresses anyway.

SloanePeterson · 27/11/2017 12:10

Yes, all here of my babies were back to back and had anterior placentas, which I assume is down to the position of my uterus. Not a problem really, though with my third I didn't show for a very long time.

mindutopia · 27/11/2017 12:11

It's really normal. Many women have them. An anteverted (tilted forward) uterus is more statistically normal, like more people have them, but retroverted (tilted backwards) is also pretty common. The only difference it makes is it may be harder in early scans to get a good view abdominally and you'll likely need a vaginal scan. By early, I mean like the ones before 12 weeks (if you have any). I have a retroverted uterus and all my 12 week scans have just been abdominal ones, but earlier than that, they are usually vaginal (but they are for many people anyway as baby is so small). Otherwise, nope, no difference at all. It's a variation of normal and many women have them.

roobrr · 27/11/2017 12:12

Me! Hasn't caused me any bother in either of my pregnancies x

Howsthings1234 · 27/11/2017 12:23

My 12 week scans have never been that clear due to it as it's been tricky to get a good view but other than that not sure what impact it makes really. I had a c section first time and will gain this time but not related to this issue.

Yes, on third pregnancy. Not s problem. Rightens itself as baby grows.

thingymaboob · 27/11/2017 13:42

I have one which was quite severe. No problems at all. I'm 33 weeks.

Brokenbutbreathing · 27/11/2017 13:46

I have one - no effect on pregnancy, but couldn't deliver naturally despite trying desperately, and being induced repeatedly.

Efferlunt · 27/11/2017 13:53

I have one. Three pregnancies without problems in this regard. It tilts forward at some point.

Roomba · 27/11/2017 14:02

Mine is retroverred. Never caused me any issues at all during pregnancy. I did have tiny bumps though, not sure if that was related?

Littleraincloud · 27/11/2017 14:04

I have one, both babies back to back but that was just bad luck apparently.

CL1982 · 27/11/2017 21:27

It hasn't seemed to affect me so far :)

Efferlunt · 28/11/2017 10:49

Meant to add. Bump took ages to ‘pop’and all three were back to back which seems to be common.

ArkadyRose · 28/11/2017 16:59

I have a retroverted uterus; it's never caused a problem in any of my pregnancies, nor were any of my babies back-to-back during labour (and all three labours went very quickly with no complications at all).

Booboostwo · 28/11/2017 18:12

I have a retroverted uterus too. It didn't cause any problems. I had huge bumps, average sized babies, DD was transverse.
