When was your morning sickness worst?

I found out last week that I am pregnant, roughly 3-5 weeks. I've been feeling queasy and tired the last few days, heaving over the toilet bowl etc, however I've been eating a ginger biscuit and ginger tea first thing, and it does seem to help.

My last pregnancy was 11 years ago, and it was a horrendous time. I was sick and nauseous constantly, and lost a lot of weight. I can't remember a lot of what went on, to be honest.

I'm hoping this pregnancy will be different, but it's obviously still too early to tell. Basically what I want to know is, is there a point where the sickness gets worse?

I think it generally peaks around 8-10 weeks, although this is just a guide. My was probably worst around 7-8 weeks, and eventually tailed off completely at 18 weeks. Sorry! It truly is a miserable time Sad

I’m 6+3 and it’s awful!! Has really picked up the last few days I was ill all day yesterday. But they did say my hcg was rising faster than expected so I’m back for another scan today. Hopefully it’s still just one lol

For me it was at it's worst between 7-10 weeks. It's horrible. I hope it eases up for you soon.

Twickerhun · 27/11/2017 08:29

Week 8-10. Good luck op

wowbutter · 27/11/2017 08:40

Weeks 8-11 were the worst.
It ramped up in 6-7 and then peaked. And had worn off by 14.

PJsAndProsecco · 27/11/2017 08:46

I felt the worst weeks 7-8. Starting to feel a bit more human now at 10 weeks but still exhausted. Those two weeks were hellish though.

GloriousGomez · 27/11/2017 08:49

I felt like crap from 6-13 weeks.
7-11 were probably the worst.
Felt quite a bit better by 14 weeks. Still not great but much better than the early weeks.

Hi OP, sorry you are suffering. It sounds like you might have had Hyperemesis Gravidarum in your last pregnancy, it is horrible. There are various anti-sickness medications that you can try now might help and they are safe to take. It's probably worth making a GP appointment now as if you can start on the meds before it gets too bad the evidence shows that really helps. It's quite common for women with HG to suffer throughout, as you did last time, though the first trimester is the toughest. There is a hyperemesis support thread on here with lots of ladies going through the same thing and we all support each other. The charity Pregnancy Sickness Support also has lots of really helpful information.

7-9 weeks was the absolute worst for me. Started feeling a bit better by 12 weeks, back to normal by 16 weeks-ish, just the occasional bout of retching. You'll get there. :)

Rockandrollwithit · 27/11/2017 09:53

I had HG and it was awful for the whole pregnancy. But weeks 12-15 were the very worst.

ClareB83 · 27/11/2017 10:03

Week 10 was the worst for me.

CoodleMoodle · 27/11/2017 10:12

I'm somewhere between 6 & 8 weeks and felt awful for about 2 weeks, then had a couple of days of feeling better. Woke up this morning and was sick straight after breakfast, so back to feeling crap today.

With DD1 I felt nauseous (was only sick about 5 times) continuously until about 14 weeks, and then one morning I woke up and felt ridiculously hungry. And that was it, I stuffed my face nonstop until the day I gave birth.

Hope you feel better, it's rough Flowers

Raisinbrain · 27/11/2017 10:18

It started at 8 weeks and lasted until maybe 12 weeks. Horrible.

CL1982 · 27/11/2017 12:44

Mine wasn't too bad. Had a horrible week on holiday (the heat made it worse for sure) and then i think it got dodgy around 9 weeks. I found having a pack of oatcakes or some dried fruit near at all times helped and eating a half every 20-30 minutes made a massive difference. Everyone is different though.

Ginger made absolutely no difference. Sour sweets were good though.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 27/11/2017 21:15

7-13, with a peak at 10 weeks. Absolutely horrific

lookingforthecorkscrew · 27/11/2017 21:25

7-10. On Week 11 now and still not great, but def improving.

Pippiphooray · 27/11/2017 22:32

Poor you, it's dreadful. Had two very sickly pregnancies. First time I thought it would get better eventually, tried everything-ginger, acupuncture bands, boiled sweets, vitamin b, ice lollies etc. Lost so much weight, by the time my DD was born I was totally shattered, ridiculously thin and ill. 2nd time round I was at the GP's as soon as I got a positive pregnancy test and went on anti-emetics. Much better time, still sick, but much more manageable. Thinking of you, hope it improves soon, if not get to your GP!
