Dizziness, feeling of passing out at 29 weeks

Hi,
I’m 29+5 ftm.

I was in Superdrug’s and had to walk out as I felt like I was about to pass out, I was out of breath but didn’t think much of it, then I got tunnel vision and started sweating and my whole body felt weak. I put my stuff down and walked out and sat on a bench outside the store until I felt better. Once I did I went back in and the same thing happened but this time it was worst, by the time I made it to the bench I felt like my legs couldn’t carry me and I could barely see. Once I felt better I managed to drag myself to a café next door and sat down with a drink until I regained some strength. It’s been almost 2 hours and I still feel terribly weak. I have never been so scared in my life, I have passed out before due to anaemia but I have been tested for it and I know I’m not anaemic. I know I have low blood pressure so could that have caused it? I have never felt so bad due to it. I am seeing my midwife next week so will mention it then but has anyone experienced something similar? Is it normal at this stage? I haven’t lost consciousness thank God but I’m so scared next time I will and the fall might hurt the baby.

Maybe call up before if your worried she could see you earlier.

I felt exactly like that towards the end of my pregnancy and was anemic. When did you last have blood tests?

InappropriateUsername · 26/11/2017 14:25

You should try to see someone earlier to rule things out. It could be low blood pressure or other stuff. I used to get dizzy in supermarkets no idea why, maybe the air con. Could you have low blood sugar? I have had similar shaky feeling lasting a few hours and vision blurry/loss, I have glucose intolerance (so on GD diet plan to manage) and I suffer with silent migraines so lose eyesight each time which is why I get it. Don't stress if possible and make sure you're fed, watered & resting till you see someone x

Yes, try and take it easy. It's a really horrible feeling isn't and very frightening if you don't know what's causing it. My midwife didn't tell me there was anything wrong until I went to my routine appt and was put on iron tablets. They may not have your results yet if it was only the 19 th of this month? I would contact your midwife tomorrow, she may be able to chase up your blood results. Make sure you tell someone how you're feeling, partner/friend/mum etc, they can keep an eye on you. Take care x

I'm 33 weeks and this happened to me on Friday. I was sat down and my vision went dark and stars and spots. I was in my office (an office in a hospital). I put myself on the floor as didn't want to fall. It took about 20 minutes for me to recover. My colleague called the central delivery suite and my husband took me up there (around the corner from my office). I spent the entire day in hospital and had 3 scans, an ECG, an echo and lots of blood tests. My heart rate was a bit high and my blood pressure was a bit low and they found a heart murmur but apparently most pregnant women have one due to increase blood volume. I was discharged and it was just classed as a vasovagal episode. Always get checked out, is my advice.

Your blood pressure drops to its lowest around 28 weeks - with my always high blood pressure it was quite a shock to nearly pass out twice during my first pregnancy at this sort of time. It’s likely to be that, especially if your blood pressure is low to begin with, but please call the midwife tomorrow to check it with them.
