Hi all..
Just wondering how premature a baby would be at 35 weeks? I'm worried I may be starting of already!!
Ive been having mild period pain all night and yesterday but they are not consistent .. just on and off. Got a lot of pressure in my bum, feel like I need to use the toilet but nothing comes & also feel like I need a wee but when I get on the toilet barely anything comes out? should I be concerned? It's nothing horribly uncomfortable, so I'm not sure if labour is starting or not? First time mom

Could it be that your baby has just engaged? This would explain the pressure.

Baby will most likely be absolutely fine at 35 weeks. Mine didn't need any extra help but some do. It's still a good gestation to get to.

If you are worried about labour phone hospital but I get all those symptoms and am not in labour.

Good luck

Mamabear4180 · 26/11/2017 12:09

I had that in my 2nd pregnancy from 33 weeks but DD wasn't early and was delivered by planned section at 39+2

In answer tour question 35+ weeks is a very safe time to have a baby usually. My youngest was born at 36+6 weighing 6lb 8oz and absolutely fine. Many prems after 30 weeks are fine.

Hope bubba hangs in there! Have nice warm baths OP

My daughter was born at 35 weeks by e/c and was fine. Left hospital 2 days later. When I went into prem labour I had bad back pain a bit like bad period pain

Girlwiththearabstrap · 26/11/2017 12:20

I was induced just before 35 weeks and all was fine. My baby was very jaundiced and under the light for a few days but totally fine other than that. Small but healthy! As others have said though, it might not be that. Is it worth ringing your midwife?

Xfactorstar · 26/11/2017 13:08

Ds was born 34 weeks and 4 days. He's fine. Your symptoms sound similar to mine phone the triage line or midwife

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 26/11/2017 13:50

Ds was perfectly fine - didn't need any help at all. Definitely suggest you ring your midwife or hospital though - they might have a better idea of what your symptoms mean!

Fakingit36 · 26/11/2017 14:11

My DS was also induced at 35 wks. He was little but caught up completely within maybe 3 months of life. No delays and he's a happy nearly 5 year old now. I know it's worrying - I was very worried when they had to induce and they said some gloomy things about him needing special care but it was ok. I am pregnant again and have to admit I'd love a full term baby with plump cheeks that they would hand right to me for a feed instead of whisking away. But in the grand scheme of things it's all good.

Itsallfuckery · 26/11/2017 14:26

My dd was born at 35 weeks. She was in the scbu for a couple weeks, needed help with feeding, temperature, jaundice and general building up, but she was fine. Now a happy healthy 10 year old!

MiniMaxi · 26/11/2017 14:28

Should be fine all being well. My son was born at 33+6 and was ok apart from small and took a while to learn how to feed. He spent two days in the NICU and two weeks on postnatal with me.

By 35-36 weeks your LO should have a suck reflex, decent immunity from you, and pretty well developed lungs. Try not to worry - especially as may be a false alarm!

Developmentally I think 37 weeks is considered to be "term" so your baby would only be a couple of weeks prem if born now. Hope all goes well!

Oysterbabe · 26/11/2017 14:34

DD came at 35+5. She was fine but did need treatment for jaundice and was quite uncomfortable for a while, like her digestive system was immature and she struggled with wind.

Rebeccaslicker · 26/11/2017 15:33

My niece came at about that. She was small but had no health issues. She's now 10 and the most athletic and bright little girl you could hope to meet. She still hates missing out on anything though - I always tell her that's why she came early!

Hope you're ok but even if you are in real labour, you and baby should be just fine. Fingers crossed :)

bettydraper31 · 26/11/2017 15:53

My daughter was born at 33+5, they didn't try to stop labour as they said she will be okay to be born now, it's really just extra weight they are packing on now, they have everything they need. They may give steroids to help baby's lungs but maybe not as you're a few weeks ahead of where I was. Good luck xx

Chaosofcalm · 26/11/2017 15:55

OP zig you think there is a chance that you could be in premature labour then you must contact the emergency number on the front of your notes now.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 26/11/2017 15:58

I had DS at 35+3 by emcs - he was little and spent a bit of time in SCBU, but was fine after that. If you are concerned, ring your emergency number on your maternity notes and they can advise

littlemissalwaystired · 26/11/2017 15:58

Your symptoms could be early labour or it could be something like a UTI. Ring your maternity unit and get checked out this evening.

Ttc321 · 26/11/2017 16:24

Thanks for all of you're comments - I have a midwife appointment tomorow. Think I was just panicking as the cramping has now stopped completely and I'm pretty much feeling back to normal. The last appointment I had was 34 weeks & his head was engaged 3/5 so that's probably what was causing the pressure. Thanks for you're help
