Insomnia in early pregnancy

Am 8+2 (or 8+6 by scan) and struggling with insomnia. Am getting to sleep easily enough and feeling exhausted by 8/9pm but waking between 3 and 4:30 Am every morning. I've tried reading until my eyes tire again and avoiding my phone screen but it takes hours to drift back off by which time I have to get up for work.

Anyone have any tips to share?

Fraid not! Title should read Insomnia in Pregnancy though!

The only thing that helped me was to get comfy and not allow myself to move after that. Then, to stop my brain wandering, focus on how minute parts of your body feel. Start from toes and move your way up - centimetres at a time.

It didn't stop the waking unfortunately, but I could reliably get to sleep in under 40 mins.

Oh dear, it was wishful thinking that this maybe a first trimester thing!

I found the first 12 weeks insomnia was worse, possibly as your mind is working overtime, but I agree in that your sleep won't ever be the same as it was pre-pregnancy. You'll just learn to adapt or deal with less sleep.

I’m 25w and have a delightful mix of narcolepsy during daylight hours and insomnia at night! It’s really fun.
I’m mostly walking around in a waking coma. If I wasn’t one term away from getting my nursing degree and 15 weeks away from having this little rugrat I’d start an overnight job and sleep all day!

Mine lasted from conception to delivery. I read a lot of books...
